I am looking to but a Winchester 94 commemorative rifle in .30-30 I should of looked at the gun more closely, I was so busy checking the action, stock and barrel that I forgot to check the drilling and tapping on the left of the receiver!

Does anyone know if the commemorative versions are drilled and tapped to accept peep sights like the Williams FP-94/

They appear to be ready for a peep!

I pulled this image of the WIN 94 Golden Spike from Google:

yes, the commemoratives are built on the same receivers as the regular rifles -- they just engrave and gold plate them. So they will have all the same mounting holes as a standard model.

Yes and putting on a peep sight is pretty straight forward

Hi, I have just got a Gold Strike 1996 model, does anyone know if it is a top eject or angle eject, it looks like top, but I thought all post 1984 Model 94 models were angle eject, perhaps it only commemorative's after this date that are top eject.

I would just fire a couple of rounds but here in OZ we have to wait 28 days to acquire it!

Its also free of abominations such as cross hammer and tang safety!

So if anyone could please tell me for sure, cause I want to get a receiver sight for it and I don't want to buy the wrong one!

A bit of confusion there its actually a gold strike not golden spike (1996 not 1969)!

it does not have a cross hammer or a tang safety thank goodness. I pretty sure its a top eject and not a angle eject. It is drill and tapped on the left side of the receiver and there is not obvious mounting for a scope! Another poster stated however that all post 1984 model 94 were angle eject, I assume this is not the case with the Gold Strike because its a commemorative!

Not much information on the Gold Stike compared to the Golden Spike!

Apparent modifications to the 94:

Rebounding hammer introduced 1981
Angle Eject introduced 1983
Crossbolt safety introduced 1992
Tang safety introduced 2004

But the commemorative versions seem free of these modifications!
