Looking into getting either a CZ 75 or a Sig P226 (preferably a W. German made). Upon doing some research, I found out about the CZ's slide stops breaking and the Sig's frame cracking. Anybody have problems with these? Should I even be concerned with this stuff?

There's a W. German P226 locally for the same that I can get a new CZ. Just not sure with these frame allegations.

The instances of SIG frame cracking I've read of were all from having immense amounts (~30,000 rounds) of rounds fired through them. The only people who can afford to do that aren't paying for it themselves. Every gun - or any other mechanical device - has its weak points.

I own 2 CZ's only problems I had was a trigger return spring that was a $10 fix.

My advice, shoot both and buy the one you like the most.

both stories are true

the Sigs that were cracking their slides were a run about 25 years ago...i had one and think i had a problem at about 25k rounds

the CZ 75 slide stop pin failure has to do with how the barrel is fitted, at one time they used to ship with an extra slide stop...this was also many years ago. you're pretty safe in a 9mm chambering

to take care of your Sig, you should follow the spring replacement recommendations 3-5k rounds and lube your rails with grease instead of oil

Don’t have much rounds through mine. Under 1,000 either the CZ75 or Sig 229. Had zero issues so far.

I had a c75b that was a military overun supposedly. I broke a slide stop after thousands of rounds. It broke during a pistol match and the gun kept running. I found it when I got home and cleaned the gun. On that same gun I also changed the extractor after a few years. I started to get failure to extract issues. One thing the newer extractor cz sent me had a larger claw. That gun had no other issues. Now I have a 75SA which just runs and runs with no issues. Mark
