OK, here is the idea.

Pick a firearm that you are knowledgeable of and give us the goods.
History, generational changes, available options, production dates, etc.

Pictures are good.

Why?

I have found that just about every seemingly boring firearm I have handled has an interesting history once researched.

For instance, tonight a friend of mine asked me to hold a rifle for him while he moved so it was secure.

(Not a picture of this actual rifle, but this is the model)

It is a Winchester model 1890 pump chambered in 22 WRF. - What I learned about this rifle is that it was made in 1907 and the model has 3 different 'generations' so to speak. This model happens to be an early 2nd gen. based on receiver design and type of sights... I also found out that 22 WRF shells are pretty impossible to find.

Info found here: http://twoponies.home.mindspring.com/model_differences.htm

I love stuff like this but never even knew about this particular model of firearm. Once I learned a little about it I felt wiser in 'the way of the gun' so to speak.

So...if you know some stuff about a particular kind of firearm, share! Maybe the rest of us can learn something about a gun that we didn't know...

Iver Johnson 55A Cadet

It was made in the fifties all the way up to the late seventies, I believe. It's a double action & came in .22LR, .32 Long and .38S&W. Mine's a .32 Long model. Sirhan Sirhan used one to shoot Robert Kennedy and 4-5 others in the Ambassador Hotel that day. For a cheap-o gun, it's a great shooter and built like a '51 Buick. It's very solid, has no recoil worth mentioning & even has a screw-adjustable hammer spring for fine tuning. My girlfriend loves it. She shoots like an expert with the thing.
