Exceptionally bad cell phone photo, but there it is.

I have the G34 with the 5 3/8" barrel, the 17L is too long for USPSA and IDPA matches, the only reason I own a Glock. The forward balance on the G34 is perfect, I have not handled the G17L, but I can imagine it would be muzzle heavy and with the stock Glock trigger not as accurate as it could be. If Iwas to choose a 6" barreled 9mm it would be the STI Trojan 6.0, at more than double the cost.

I have one of the original Glock 17L's first generations with the factory ported barrel. I also have a second gen that was used by the Romanian Special Forces Brigada Antiterrorista.

If you look at the two guys at the range that might be a 17L.

The gun is not muzzle heavy with a full mag.

I admit the balance on my G34 is better but I would not badmouth my 17L's as they are just really cool shooters.

Good choice and price. I picked up a 17L about a year and a half ago figuring it would complement my 17, 19, 26 and 34. I replaced the sights with the Sevigny Competition Sight Set (plain/serrated). This is the same set up on my 34. Anyhow, it’s a good shooter but I like the 34 better. To bad they don’t compensate them anymore.

The G17L offers a little extra velocity and accuracy from its increased sight radius (all of these are courtesy of its longer 6.02" barrel/slide assembly) which makes it an attractive proposition for those who like to shoot their handguns at "longer than usual" distances (< 25m) even though it is not "legal" for USPSA/IDPA events.

I have four Gen. III 17Ls and they all make shooting at extended ranges (50m to 150m) an enjoyable and rewarding passtime.

Interesting coincidence--I am scheduled to pick up a NIB 17L tomorrow evening from a local dealer. Sounds like you got a great price--mine is a lot more! But I am a Glock enthusiast, and very attracted to the longer sight radius. I don't shoot competitively, so the 17L's disqualification from USPA matches is not a concern, nor is concealed carry. This one will be a range gun, and HD. Glad to see from the other posts that others like this long nosed Glock. Can't wait! Cheers.

thanks guys, finally took some pics and some range results
