Pietta Remington 1858, RGST36, is it on same frame as RGST44?

I suspect that 777 and Swiss 4fg would be very close. But I ain't gonna test it, as I'll never touch 777 again. !!!! :cuss:
Ugly you have no sense of adventure, oh wait, you're the guy who wanders around in bear and wolf country with a single shot front stuffer. I have used T7 a lot with no chain fires, I think you had a single unfortunate incident. If it had happened with 4 f powder would you feel the same about it as with T7?

That has crossed my mind, that I just kind of won the lottery that day. From a logical standpoint, I don't see why 777 would be more (or less) prone to a chain fire. But yeah, if it had been 4fg, I'd probably still be suffering from 4fg PTSD! And singing the praises of 777. !!!

Oh yeah, I wander around the big critters with a single shot front stuffer...but it's a BIG single shot front stuffer!!! (And Bessie is even bigger!)

But sometimes an itty-bitty .58", when I'm really feeling brave.

I just broke into a fresh can of Triple 7. It’s been a few years since I chronographed the stuff and those logs are boxed up so I guess I’ll need to chrony a few loads. It’s very good powder, and I like it a lot except the smell is nasty. No rotten eggs… Very good power and cleanup is so easy, if I didn’t know better I’d say it was invented for cap revolvers.

I tried triple 7 and got delayed ignition. I haven't used it since

I have 4 lbs of triple 7 is sale to anyone in western NC"close to asheville" for 25 a piece.

Did you try "American Pioneer"? Apparently, leaves very little residue, and easy to clean. As far as I know, use to be on market as "Black MZ", by Alliant Powder.

Black MZ was discontinued for awhile after a fire at the Alliant Powder plant. Now it's available again since not sure when. Haven't kept up, but I just checked their website after seeing your post, and saw this:

I think Black MZ or American Pioneer Powder would be worth a try. I'd also be interested in seeing comments from anyone who has used one or the other or both.

The link you posted says discontinued.

I've never tried T7. The price is enough to keep me away.
I can’t remember what I paid for it. I’m sure I bought it on a whim after seeing some of the velocity numbers put up. It is powerful stuff and generally very good powder but as long as I can get Swiss, I won’t use much of it or Pyrodex.

I’d heard about that stuff, never tried it but it sounds like there are some positives. If it becomes available again…

I haven't seen any in a long time. Since you don't have to use bp in primitive weapons season anymore it's hard to find any bp substitute. My LGS stocks Pyrodex but the last time I saw T7 Pyrodex was 19.00 per pound and T7 was about 34.00.

Wow! I’ll have to take a look next time I’m in a retailer. I’m usually pretty cheap, I can’t believe I’d pay that much for a substitute…

39.99 at Cabela's now. Pyrodex is 26.99 - 29.99. I don't remember how long ago that was but it's been a pretty good while and was at Walmart.

I bought used a 36 NMA and have never shot it. Still in the box it came in. I bought it thinking it would be lighter than one of my 44s and it wasn't. I was going to bob it - 3" barrel, birdshead grip. Two Franklins would buy it if anyone is interested. It's in real nice shape.

PM sent a couple of days ago. I’m not sure if you are seeing the notification.
