Madmike's kid with her own AR15. At seven, she is quite personable and certainly on the way to being this country's best hope for the future.

Same kid with her knife and sword (not visible in this photo but very much present in her sash).

Great pics as always, Oleg.

While the quality isn't near that of your photos, you can see that I completely agree with the sentiment.

Great Pic (caption needs work)

Pic is your usual standard of excellence.

You have two conflicted voices speaking in the caption, though.

It needs to be one or the other:

"My Mom & Dad teach me personal responsibility.
What do your parents teach YOU?"

OR

"I Teach my kids personal responsibility.
What do you teach YOUR kids?"

(with the pic, I suggest the former).

DWS1117:

Do you buy a new firearm each time to match the growth of your son? It'd be a good excuse :D You can look forward to the day he grows to be Barrett M82 height!

The rifle looks too big. Wouldn't it be better to have something a little "smaller"?

:D

I'm all for teaching kids at a young age, but if the rifle is taller than them, it may be wise to rethink the strategy

Maybe a pink Cricket would work as well?

Gives me hope for the future. If the world is going to be a better place, this is exactly how it will be done, through children who grow up understanding personal responsibility and individual rights.

I wish I had an AR when I was a little kid. :D

Sounds like a terrific idea. I mentioned it to my wife (first mistake), and she hit me. Thanks. I'll try again when she isn't pregnant.

I don't know why but the picture with the girl and the knife kinda disturbs me. I guess its the way shes holding it so innocently.
I think she is taller than the rifle if she were to stand up.

How young is too young? I don't know if kids can grasp at that young an age the enormous responsibility it is to handle firearms. I was probably still eating my boogers at that age and swearing to God I didn't.

Looking at the picture, she would be taller than the gun if she stood up. Or are you talking about DWS1117's boy? Yeah, I think that might be a bit too much gun for him at the moment ;). But he looks so happy!

Cute kids.

Only thing that bugs me is that a 7 year old girl has a nicer rifle than I do.

We are expecting our first child this weekend, and my wife gives me dirty looks whenever I comment that I am going to buy her first rifle in a couple months. :neener:

Everybody's a flippin' critic.

Outstanding pic, Oleg. Makes me less pessimistic of the future.

Her father, madmike, brought a copy of his new book, Targets of Opportunity for me to see. It is the follow-up to Scope of Justice. I got through about the first third of it thus far. It is a better read than the first book, written in a more fluid language and very well researched. Highly recommended. Comparisons of madmike with Clancy are beginning to annoy me, because Mike is a much better writer.

I also recommend his book "Freehold" highly and "Weapon" as a companion to "Freehold".

I have a real problem with the first pic. Pictures like that can cause alot of problems and I find it to be irresponsible of him...

Reason being that if my 9 yr old daughter sees that AR, I'll never hear the end of it from the guys when I show up at the range with one like it. Thanks alot. :D
