Pishing Scam Caution

I not sure where to post this please move if necessary.
I have received two pishing scams in my e mail in the last two days. Both messages stating my E Bay account would be suspended within 24 hours if I did not log on immediately and deal with some issues.
No I didn't follow their link, I forwarded it to "[email protected]" and it was exactly what I thought it was.. a fishing expedition, the page that they have is very official looking the message sends you to a log on page that is identical to the E Bay one, but if you look at the header it is not their web site, E Bay is aware of this the BG in this instance is looking for your passwords why.. I don't know how much do you think they could charge to your account and have the stuff shipped to a different address before you figure it out.

I get those from Paypal and the kicker is, I cancelled my Paypal account a couple of months ago. The email address I get those messages sent to no longer exists on Paypal. I double-checked with their customer support when I got the first one.

There's nothing even remotely in my E-mail except messages from friends. Nothing. It's all completely stupid and patently fraudulent. I have no idea why anyone still bothers to send spam.

For that matter, if we can have a national do not call list, I have no idea why we don't have a do not spam list.

Oh. Wait. Yeah, I guess I do understand: Congress would have to get up off its collective back side and actually address a problem.

It would be much harder to enforce, as most spam either originates or is realyed through servers outside US and thus not subject to our laws.

In the last 24 hours I recieved 7 from "eBay", 12 from "Paypal", and 3 from different banks (none of which I have accounts with)...That's about average for me lately...These had died down a while back, but suddenly there's tons...Depending on the email client you use, you can display the "header" information, that shows where they REALLY originated....

You think that's funny, I don't even have an ebay account and I get those.

I get those silly e'mails too and I've never ever had an e'bay or paypal account. I usually go to the link and fill out the form with trash information.

I doubt if that really causes the scum any problems but what the hey!

Might cause me some problems I suppose but my PC is sitting behind a hardware and software firewall and is for all practical purposes invisible to the rest of the internet. I imagine that there are many with the skill to bypass that security though why they would bother is beyond me.

Someone sugested..

going there and entering all kinds of false information, so for hoots I did. I found out there is a "Go to (insert noun here)" with a password of "Eat (insert body waste product here) and Die (insert body part that releases waste here)" on their list, either that or any user name and password will do. Gave them some real nice 20 digit CC numbers to play with too.
