Places to buy Federal HST?

Most all premium self defense ammunition are copper jacketed lead rounds in a steel case. I have shot thousands of rounds of steel cased ammo in my guns and it has never ever been a issue. I believe the issue with steel cases is for reloading. I am not sure of the reasons why that is as I do not reload. Maybe some of those here that do reload can provide the specific reasons why steel cases are a problem to reload

That's not true.

Most all premium self defense ammunition are copper jacketed lead rounds in a [strike]steel[/strike] brass or nickel-plated brass case.

Also, Cor-Bon has been very successful marketing self-defense/hunting ammunition with non-lead bullets, all copper if I remember correctly.

The flow traditionally is this:

Manufacturer to Distributor to Dealer

With HST and other "duty" ammo you add in these steps:
Manufacturer to...
Agencies/Department then to
Distributors to
Agencies, Department, LEO Dealers

That said the flow right now has DRAMATICALLY changed.
Distributors have been told NOT to sell to LEO Dealers. Most (all I know of) are following this for fear of loosing the ability to sell ANY Federal/ATK products.
Federal is requiring that if a dealer has an order from a department, they must provide a departmental PO to either Federal or the distributor and the order will then ship DIRECTLY to the ordering agency.

The lead time for P40HST1 is NINE months as of 5/4/09. As an additional FYI .380 will be available "first quarter 2010" according to Federal/ATK. For those of you who dont know ATK owns Federal, Speer, CCI (HST, Gold Dot, Blazer, Hydra Shok, and everything not made by Winchester or Remington)

So - although it may create discussion, it is a waste of time asking when it will be available. No one know for sure. Anyone of us lucky enough to have ANYTHING on the site has massive back orders with distributors. Occasionally something will roll in on the UPS truck, but until that happens we have no idea its coming.

One of the top distributors nationwide had exactly 600 boxes of ammunition on their racks. Most of it was 500 something or other. This in a 37 thousand square foot warehouse.............

TDS...I was curious do you still offer the discount for THR members? I tried using it on your site yesterday and it didn't seem to work for me.

Thanks for the heads up. I just found out.

I surfed this thread after it didn't work to see if TDS stopped the special.

I must have missed Seven For Sure's post until you mentioned it!

Thanks Yeti.
