Places to Shoot Around Hood River/The Dalles?

Hi, they just shut down the largest gun range here where I live, called The Dalles Rifle & Pistol Club. I am wondering if anyone knows where any of the shooting pits are in the Neal Creek Rd area. If anyone knows any other good spots for rifle and pistol shooting with around 100 yd distance, I'd be interested to know. I was told due to the cliffs being filled with rocks that ricochets are a large concern. Anyone, have any opinions about that? I am a little nervous to go shooting out in the woods, but considering the lack of ranges where I live, I don't think I have any choices.

Any members here from the Columbia Gorge?

Don't you have any BLM or National Forest land ear there? When I lived in NV, we found a coulee on BLM land and shot away when we didn't feel like going to the city park range

There is no BLM land around where I live.. They are in other parts of the state, but remember Oregon/Washington are big states (area wise). Also, Oregon ain't no Nevada, so we don't have the luxury of strolling out to the desert to plink wherever we like; at least not in the Western part of the state or in the Columbia Gorge/Willamette Valley.
