Does anyone know of places to shoot in the hampton roads area? i know of all the indoor ranges and the C2 range that costs 30 a day. Im looking for somewhere outdoors a range or someone with land where i could plink on the weekends.... handguns and .22 rifles....... THANK YOU

Where in the 757? <--never mind, I just saw your Location

The Chickahominy Wildlife Management Area has a sighting-in range for rifles, but the only position available is bench rest (or crouched freehand, I guess...).

There's the Lafayette Gun Club in Yorktown, but you need to either go with a member or apply yourself (it takes some time, so if you want in apply NOW, as in today).

Airfield Shooting Club is somewhere west of Chesapeake, I think. I don't know much about them.

Beyond that, I have no idea.

since you're from VA Beach like me, I'll go ahead and recommend A&P Arms off of lishelle near Lynnhaven Mall. You can shoot what you want there (as long as the backstop can hold it), and they dont charge 30 bucks a day. IIRC, it was 10/pistol or 12/rifle for range fees last time I went.

yeah i know of a&p i like it but want somewhere with more shooting distance. the iwla seems interesting, and 35 mins isnt too far away

THANKS

there is not much here any more send me a pm I know a private club that goes to 200 meters in suffolk.

Issue with A&P and rifles and shotguns is that they now have a "special" target that you must use.. single bull at bottom of paper and no other targets allowed. I have looked and looked for a place and have come up empty. I hate this place and my hope is to be able to leave it in a few years.

I live in Suffolk and I just looked at the address for the IWLA doesn't seem like a place with much of a shooting possibility (pretty much smack dab in a residential area). Anyone correct me on that?

Check out the Airfield Shooting Club in Wakefield. It's a least an hour away from Virginia Beach, but with the Virginia Beach Rifle & Pistol Club having lost its range in 2005, and with C2 raising their rates through the roof, it's probably your best option if you want to shoot outside.

ASC has a 50 yard and a 100 yard rifle/pistol range and a skeet range. The only real restriction is (sadly) no full-auto. $75/year plus $50 initiation.

As far as the IWLA is concerned, I understand that the Portsmouth-Norfolk County IWLA lost its range many years ago. I don't know much about the Nansemond-Suffolk range, but I hear it's kind of a good ole boy thing.
