Here is something to think about. Although we live in THE greatest nation in the world, this country has its problems. One of those problems is that not everyone believes that we should have the right to bear arms. It comes as no surprise that with thousands of guns laws on the books across the nation, not one has made even the slightest mentionable dent in the rise of criminal activities. In fact, the presence of guns is the only reason crime hasn’t risen higher than it has.

So many people are gun centric in their personal defense skills, that without the gun they are pretty much hopeless. My question to those of you who have limited your self-defense options to the use of a firearm, what are you going to do once firearms are no longer present in this country? Let’s face it, a gun ban is inevitable, but that is a whole different thread.

For those of you who don’t believe that a gun ban which disarms the entire country is possible “because this is America and nothing like that can happen here”, I will play your little game. But here is a twist… what are you going to do if your state does not allow CCW/CHL permits anymore? Is that a possibility? You bet it is.

Whatever age you are right now, 10 years from now where are you going to be in regards to your abilities to defend yourself? Are you going to still be relying on a gun that may or may not be present? Or, are you investing your time in a good unarmed self defense program? All the firearms training in the world is not going to help you if you don’t carry on a daily basis, or if guns are banned!!!

Too many people place their salvation on the use of a gun. This is not a good thing to do! You should NEVER place all of your eggs in one basket!

ALWAYS have a plan B!!! How many of you TRULY have a plan B? You have to be honest with YOURSELF!

A warrior does not limit their options but rather increases their options for use in combat. If you do not have well rounded skills in unarmed combatives, then quite honestly you do not really have a plan to succeed in a fight. Remember, a gun is only a tool, not the solution!

It is unfortunate that those who carry handguns have a false sense of security when it comes to personal safety. All of the firearms training in the world does not mean that you are prepared for any or most confrontations. If what you are basing your survival on is the presence of your gun and your “abilities” with that gun, you are limiting your chances of survival because in the real world, things never go as planned, and you might not ever have a chance to attempt to use your gun. Even if you do use your gun and actually hit what you are aiming at, what are you going to do if and when the threat(s) is still coming?

With all of the things mentioned in mind, WHAT is YOUR plan B? Plan B may very quickly become plan A.

I won't be disarmed, and I couldn't care less how agents of the State feel about it.

LA passed laws about requiring those with certain weapons to turn them in under penalties of arrest and being jailed as a felon.

They think about 5-10% of the people with the assault items to be turned in have actually complied. They don't have the manpower or funds to enforce the laws they write when they are written with such a broad stroke of a brush that affects masses of people.

10 years from now, I expect many of us will be holdouts in any new laws that "confiscate" or otherwise that which we now legally own. The only way to disarm the American people effectively is to go door to door and search. Even then, they'll never find them all.

Who goes door to door if that happens? The blue berets of the UN, not US soldiers or cops. One military unit was already subjected to inquires if they would perform that function, the response ended that idea PDQ.

The use of the firearm [ handgun ] is just one tool of many available if you are well rounded. The crux is that even those who don't carry, don't own firearms will still be left unprepared for the most part.

Training in H2H, stick, knife, etc takes discipline and hard work to become proficient. The numbers have never, nor will likely ever reflect the general public being well rounded in their various skills. Most people have no skills at all, others take a course once or twice and think thats all they need and are now good to go, others never take professional training past the NRA basic courses to get a ccw.

Well rounded in SD skills. It takes time to develop, it hurts physically, it costs money they either don't have or deem spent in more important areas of their lives.

It's all about priorities, the risk/reward.

Take a look at http://www.strikeatthewind.com/drama.htm .

This play genuinely represents the ethos of my community. This story is still held up as the ideal to be imitated here. My neighbors are more than 90% Native American, members of one of the oldest if not the oldest racially integrated communities in the nation's history.

My neighbors recently had a ceremony to commemorate the 50th anniversary of their routing of the Ku Klux Klan from this county ( http://www.uncp.edu/pineneedle/around_town/2007_2008/012508_AT_kkk.html , http://www.fayobserver.com/special/battle_of_maxton_field/ ). It wasn't quite as bloodless as a lot of folks make out to believe, either. I know the son of a man who was a local doctor from that era who tells a different story.

In short, my neighbors here still believe in the ancient virtues. Freedom to them means being able to own land, provide a good education for their children, vote, and own firearms.

It would be a... less than stellar idea... to appear here and announce you had come to collect people's guns. No matter what uniform you were wearing.

And plan B? They're still familiar with arrows, spears and knives too. Plus there's that line from Steve Earl's Copperhead Road that applies just as well, but none of those particular lessons are exactly new around here either if you get my drift.

In 10 years assuming I'm still alive, I sincerely doubt that I'm going to feel like engaging in hand to hand combat with anyone. Too old for that stuff. If the govymint decides that the 2d Amendment doesn't mean anything except for the military, police, and National Guard/reserves I'm afraid that I'll be amongst those that will be called a criminal by the "authorities".

A friend who went through police officer's training, he was told to assume in Nevada everyone has a gun in the car at a stop. There are that many of us armed. I think that some states will be hold outs.

plan A, this gun and this gun and this gun

plan B, this one here, this one here, and this one here.

plan C repeat as necessary

I don't believe that my arms will be taken (not with me remaining alive anyway), but I think he makes a good point. You need to have other tools if only for SD purposes. You can't whip out your gun if someone slaps you or pushes you on the ground.

Well...let's wait and see how The Supremes rule on Heller before we sound the death watch.

But to answer your question...my Plan B is edged and blunt weapons. I especially like knives because they are flat, light, silent, and inexpensive. You also avoid accidental discharges and you never have a stray bullet to worry about. Truth be told, I would rather carry any of the fine knives available from companies like Cold Steel than a gun. But the state issues handgun permits, not dagger permits. So I carry a gun.

Dont know of too many here who 'isnt carrying' (legally) or doesnt have a gun of some form, helps to balance out the BG's who,in most cases DO have firepower, something local politicians AND corrupt media (not all media BTW)doesnt want the general public to know.

Wont hand mine in(my investments/weapons) and wont allow them to be taken...

Plan A: Gun(s)

Plan B: Ka-Bar

Plan C: I am one of the dirtiest fighters that I've ever met... the only rule when it comes to unarmed defense is that there are no rules. I will pull hair, bite, scratch eyes, pulverize and twist private parts... whatever it takes.
