When I die my first question to god will be " why all the plastic guns" they have absolutly no character what so ever. Give me something with a deep bluing or SS with real wood. Plastic SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its CRAAAAAAAAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glocks are reycled from long dead organisms.

Ashes to ashes... dust to dust.. petroleum to polymer..

It's all part of gods plan.

When I die my first question to god will be " why all the plastic guns"
To which the Gods will reply..

"Hey, we were BORED and needed a good laugh."

To each their own, but I *LIKE* my plastic guns. Plenty of character in my Glock, it HATES being limp-wristed when fired and will make its displeasure known to the shooter.

One thing I've always liked about Glocks was their lack of personality. They are simply a tool that works very well. I would feel a little sad loosing a nicely customized 1911 or similar to the crime lab if I ever had to use it. Loosing my Glock 17 on the other hand, well, I'd be upset over the loss of a $500 product, but not much more.

Someone explain to me what you mean by limp-wristed and what happens????????:)

Be careful ajax, because I once said the very same thing. I disliked Glocks with a passion and you couldn't get me to look twice at one. No way was I ever going to buy one of those fugly pieces of tupperware.....and so on and so forth. I badmouthed them all the time.

However I now own two and am considering adding a third to my collection in the near future. I love them, and wouldn't trade my Glock 19 for anything. :)

I love traditional guns.

However my sweat is acidic and very bad on gun finishes.

I had to move to a polymer and phosphate finish carry gun because I was ruining my blued steel guns.

45 I considered a .357 sig once. Instead I bought a .45 and havn't looked back since. Problem for me now is every gun shop is the same anymore. Plastic as far as the eye can see. Cookie cutter guns. Whoopde do! I'm not knocking function I'm knocking character or lack there of.

And then He'll roll His eyes as He rests His hand on the grip of His Glock...

;)

I agree. A plastic gun *would* suck. I can't imagine a plastic barrel's rifling holding out for long. Thank God Gaston Glock saw fit to remedy these problems before they occured.

To each his own. Personally I like all guns of quality whether they be traditional all steel, or polymer framed. Another nice thing about handguns that incorporate polymer is that they are lighter for concealed carry.

I do have two Glocks and am proud to own them. My Glock 23 is by my bed and I CCW my G27 1/3 of the time. But since I grew up in the Miami Vice age - nothing is prettier than steel! I carry a PPK/S and a Kahr MK9 (all steel) the other 2/3. I love my Browning BDA .380 (nickel of course) and looking forward to my next gun (thinking about a Para Ordnance Warthawg or Hawg 9 ) For pure functionality and combat its hard to beat a glock, but I do like to customize my guns (grips etc) so I just customize the Glocks holsters. Just because you don't like something doesnt mean you have to hate it. 1911's are pretty but not my thing - the Warthawgs are the only ones so far that have interested me - but that doesn't mean I hate 1911s - just don't care for them myself that much. I hope your life gets better and you are able to focus on much more positive things.
Have a good day!:)

I like plastic guns as working guns. I also like custom 1911's. I like the custom 1911's because there is no better type for winning gun fights. I like Glocks because short of a 1911 they are one of the easiest guns to shoot well under stress and their idiot proof. They run in the mudd snow sand you name it. Like Tommy Lee Jones said lose that nickle plated sissy pistol and get yourself a Glock.

Im sorry to inform you guys but GOD owns a S&W 686 in stainless steel that sits next to the bed and he's packin a 1911 Goverment. For the record I'm not complaining about how they function. I'm aggravated becuase the selection of plastic guns is starting to remove the selection of firearms I buy from the local gun shops. The way I see it is if I want a plastic gun I'll buy a water pistol.:D

In response to:

I like the custom 1911's because there is no better type for winning gun fights.

To qoute Paul Howe (Combat Shooting and Tactics Founder): "A shooting is one-way event, all the shooting is done by me. The gunfight is where your opponent has the opportunity to fight back. I prefer the shooting to the gun fight as getting shot at leads to getting shot and this hurts."

So personally I'll use whatever is handy to ensure that I'm not in a gun fight.

It's funny to me that people complain about "plastic guns", yet a decent segemet of them purchase AR's. The rifle design which had the exact same complaints leveled against it 30 years ago. In 30 years I'm sure I'll be hearing someone talk about "the good old days when you could get a real gun like a Glock, rather then these new fangled organicly grown pistols," or something along those lines.

It's a tool. Form follows function. Firearms can be art, in which case the asthetic is independant or function. However I'm not going to trust my life to a work of art. I will appreciate and collect them however.

Plastic serves a purpose. I have a Glock 23 and some Kel-Tecs, and none are really that "pretty" to look at. But if you look at them and appreciate them for the useful tools they are, they are kinda nice.

But yes, my S&W 66 is much nicer to look at you're right and its stainless. But I would knock a plastic gun just because I prefer the looks of other guns. First and foremost, a gun must function and if the plastic gun functions well, then hey its a good gun.

Maybe we need a sticky like there is in the autoloaders forum, "No more hate threads".
