When i think plated bullets in 9mm, im thinking VOLUME shooting. Often indoors. When i think of volume shooting in 9mm, I want accuracy. I want cleanliness. I want efficiency. Low recoil and lowest noise possible. Low flash is also a consideration for me.
Ive had great luck with Xtreme bullets 124gr HP (target hollow point) They go through my Glocks factory barrels accurately and leave no fouling.
Accurate. Very uniform lot to lot over the last decade. Plating is well bonded to the lead. Also considered "thick plated". Plated bullets are in general much more finnicky than Cast lead or jacketed bullets, so im very critical of my plated bullets.
(Ive seen plating from other manufacturers peel away from the lead more easily, which causes accuracy issues, keyholing, etc but maybe that was just bad dumb luck)
Ive recovered several projectiles in backstop material, and the plating is always intact on the xtreme HPs and not separated where the crimp line is, that is if the bullet wasnt deformed by impact.
As always, i use moderate data with these plated bullets keeping them between 1000fps and 1100 fps. NO I dont use Alliant's website max load data for Power Pistol or Blue Dot....jeepers creepers, too Hot for me.
(The following is within published data)
WIN 231 at 4.2gr with 1.100 OAL 124 XTReme HP
is my all time favorite load out of my SIG P228 or Glock 34, shooting the tightest groups, and anywhere from 1000 to 1040fps. WIN 231 and Xtreme bullets are the cleanest combination, often going 1000+ rounds and not cleaning the guns. Little to no flash in the 34, which at my dim lighted indoor range is a BIG deal to me. Ive also found that WIN 231 makes less noise and recoil than other powders ive tried in this velocity range. But that could just be that im used to this load after 10000+ rounds of it, and that new loads are just "different" and noticeable. Good Luck.
