Anyone see the youtube. titled PMAG 17. The price will be $15.95, if I a am seeing correct. I hope it's right. Take a look

No link to the videeoo?

I might try one; I might not. I have a couple of the El-Cheapo Korean magazines and they work fine. I did remove the excessive flashing and put in Wolff +10% springs. Didn't save a penny in retrospect.

Magpul makes great AR stuff and I have a nice assortment of it. I'm just not sure if a "savings" of $10 on a magazine is worth it. Maybe ... maybe not. I'll likely wait and read what early adopters have to say. Maybe what The Truth About Guns or Hickok45 think.

I wonder why they'd bother. It's not like factory Glock mags cost a lot, or have any reliability issues.

Because factory Glock magazines typically run $25. Maybe if you get an excellent deal or buy in quantity you can swing $20. Maybe.

$15.95 is significantly less than that...and is the MSRP. When was the last time you payed MSRP for a Magpul PMAG? I hope it's been awhile or you are not shopping efficiently. Sure, I don't expect them to be on sale for $13 right off the bat, but once the honeymoon/new product phase is over, probably so.

It also has some features the Glock mags do not.

So long as they are as reliable as Glock mags, and as reliable as the typical Magpul magazine, they'll sell like hotcakes.

Example regarding prices: The latest (Gen3) 30 round PMAG has an MSRP of $14.20, but you can buy them individually from places like Primary Arms for $9.99.

It is also common to have "magpul ships free" from retailers. At least it was, and it's back/coming back as the market turns around.

When Glock originally made their magazine all plastic, they didn't drop free. It'll be interesting to see what Magpul did differently.

Magpul says:

"It took some doing in order to get them to drop free all the time and still be 100% reliable, especially when left loaded at high temperatures for long periods of time. But...we figured it out. Took some fancy compositions in the polymer, but they work like a champ. We even froze the guns and heat soaked the mags over time, and then checked that those dropped free. We had a lot of room to make the lips thick."

100% drop free glock mags....

dont get em at dollar store prices thou... :neener:

Magpul confirmed they will make Glock 17 mags

Just got off the phone with Magpul, and they confirmed they will be manufacturing mags for the Glock 17. They will not be available until possibly summer. I imagine there will probably some type of new product release, at the up coming Shot Show. Just my guess.

I rarely find Glock mags for as little as $20, they are usually closer to $25. With an MSRP of $16, the pmags will likely be found for around $12. That's a t least a $10 savings per mag. Buy 10 of them, and that's $100 savings. Quite substantial if you ask me, assuming they are reliable.

I love all magpul products so I am excited for this

If it goes well, I'd hope they would expand their line of pistol mags (that is the truly exciting part of this move by them....the future possibilities). other glocks? high capacity? other pistols eventually?

I wonder what the differentiating features will be? are they gen 4 (ambidextrous)? greater supply of quality is only good for the consumer so I can't wait for some official reviews to hit the web. Finally a non Asian-manuf. alternative to glock factory mags

This might be the tipping point for me to get a Glock. There are all kinds of handguns that I want (Glocks included), but when you look at the cost of a decent supply of mags its a bit daunting. Especially compared with the cheap, high quality AR mags out there. If the quality is as good as I expect from Magpul they will sell a ton.

Personally, I'm also excited about Magpul's new Remington 700 chassis with their DBM system.

It sure is nice having a lot of mags for a gun. I was able to significantly increase my mag supply for my G19 by trying KCI mags. I bought a half dozen of them when they cost 5 dollars each. Add a $5.00 replacement spring and they have been 100%, kept loaded 24/7.

I bring roughly 250 rounds of 9mm with me when I go to the range. All loaded in my Glock mags. If the Magpuls work great, maybe the cost of KCI mags will come back down. And perhaps someone will start working on the other models, so I can do the same thing with my other calibers.

All the Korean mags have worked well for me and I haven't yet had to replace a spring. Although some have needed a few touches with a belt sander to drop free. Also, some of the 33 round mags needed the front of the mag catch notch to be deepened to lock into my QC10 Glock small frame magazine dedicate AR lower.

So for me its too late, I've all I need now.

If I recall the original Gen 1 Glock mags didn't drop free, the idea being its nice to still have the magazine stay with the gun if the catch gets hit accidentally, but US shooters demanded "drop-free" for speed reloads.

I like to have enough mags to load up ~200 rounds or more before heading to the range as its generally too hot here to be standing around outside stuffing magazines. I don't shoot my Glock 17 & 22 much unless its suppressed, but I use the AR lowers that take Glock mags quite a lot, I've an Olympic .40S&W (all the mags need a new mag catch cutout made for the AR catch, the magwell block makes a nice template) and the QC10 9mm which has redesigned the AR catch to work with Glock magazines.

lol, apparently nobody linked the video yet

"The PMAG 17 GL9 is a 17 round Glock 9mm handgun magazine featuring a new proprietary all-polymer construction for flawless reliability and durability over thousands of rounds. High visibility anti-tilt follower, SS spring, easily removable floorplate for cleaning, Dot matrix for mag marking, ridged floorplate edges for better grip, 17rd indicator windows. Drops free loaded or unloaded. The same boring reliability you expect from an OEM magazine. MSRP $15.95"

"We're working on a lot of things in this line."

I've got 15 ranging from $20 to $30. I may add some more. Now if they make some 19 and 26 mags, that would be even better. I'm willing to bet they'll sell like hotcakes.

For 16 small ones I'm a buyer. Haven't had an issue with the $5 KCI mags i use for range mags but they're few and far between.

If these take off, we can probably assume they will start making them for the full Glock line. If people rush to buy them, Glock will probably lower their prices for new mags.

I am curious to see what they might do for a good 8 round 1911 magazine. I don't claim to be a magazine genius, nor do I know what Magpul knows that every other manufacturer doesn't know, all I know is that I have not yet tried a product from them I didn't like.

I am curious to see what they might do for a good 8 round 1911 magazine.

I don't see this happening. Standard 1911 mag wells are too narrow to accept a mag made of polymer, and steel mags aren't really Magpul's thing.

Why do you need youtube when you can go check the Magpul site and see they do already have G17 mags but no other handgun mags that I can see. Your youtube video is linked right on the bottom of the page and it's really not new.

I have no problems with the factory Glock mags or even the KCI mags either. Factory Glock 17 mags are only $19 so $16 from Magpul is no big deal.

Link please. I'd like one or two of those.

so $16 from Magpul is no big deal.
