Pocket carry a 3"?

Drail, you don't HAVE to buy the cheapest pants in the store, you know! :D

If you pocket carry, when you go try on pants, you should have your gun with you. For me, that's a huge part of buying pants. I check to see if the gun will fit in the pocket, if it prints, and for sturdiness of the pockets.

Then, there's fixing worn-out pockets, too, or strengthening ones in pants you otherwise like.

You guys who pocket carry your guns have a lot more faith in the cheeseball stitching and cloth used to make and attach pockets onto most of the jeans I have ever seen. I could never trust something like that to secure a gun. I would much rather have a good leather holster attached to a heavy leather belt. But hey, whatever gets you through the night.

Have you ever heard of "pocket holsters?" They make 'em, made for, of all things, carrying a gun in a pocket, go figure. I carry mine in a cheap blackhawk number 4. It distributes the weight evenly, does not allow the barrel to punch a hole. http://www.amazon.com/BlackHawk-Blackhawk-Inside-Pocket-Holster/dp/B001QGLPVA

I guess my faves are Wrangler cargos, jeans and other materials. The pocket will ride down behind the cargo, especially when seated, helps disguise what's in there. Today, I'm wearing some cargos I picked up at Academy, brand escapes me, but they're very similar to Wranglers, good, deep pockets. I just stick my hand in a pocket when the pants are on the rack and I can tell if they'll work.

I HATE belt carry, cannot do that all day. There's really no way to do it except in the few coolish months down here. IWB bothers my love handles, too, and a T shirt, even long tailed, will blow up over the gun in a wind. Corpus has a lot of wind and humidity to go with the 100 degree summer heat. Belt carry just plain sux. Pockets are the only way for me. If I carry a bigger gun, it has to be a fanny pack.

Must be nice to live on the north slope where the temps never rise over 70 degrees and there is no humidity.

I have a 2 1/4 SP101 DAO and it doesn't go well in a pocket IMO. I have a cheap Uncle Mikes pancake with loops on both sides. I wear it between the belt and my pants. The belt on the outside holds it nice and tight to my body. Easy to conceal at about 4 o'clock.

I've got deep pockets in my Duluth Trading Co. work pants. A 3" M60 disappears in the front pocket with no printing. It's a little heavy, but the pocket should hold up, since like the pants it is made of fire hose material.

These pants are virtually indestructible. In fact, if you do wear them out, Duluth Trading wants to know about it. Mail them to Duluth and they will send you a new pair. Yes, that's a lifetime warranty on PANTS.

LOL, I don't even like a handful of change in my front pocket let alone a handgun of any kind. Like someone said earlier " a good quality gun belt and holster combination " makes the world of difference.

I don't intend to CC the M60 in a pocket, just saying that these pants can handle the task.

shep, the fire hose material is pretty thick, but it's also comfortably soft. I wear the fire hose chinos all year 'round - they look just like Dockers. The work pants are heavier because of all the pockets.

Duluth does make fire hose shorts, too.
