I thought it would be great if we could start a list of pants that work great for those of us who pocket carry. Do you happen to know of any?

If so, please give us the name of your favorite pair(s) of pants to pocket carry in. (Ideally these would allow for great comfort and a speedy draw). Please provide us with as much info as possible so that we don't go out and buy the wrong pants! (In other words, please use specifics such as "Levi's 505", "Pleated", "Relaxed Fit", "Dress Pants", etc).

Oh.... and don't forget about including some great shorts to pocket carry in as well. :)

What, you are forgetting utilikilts?

Seriously, all of my cargo style pants, and zip-offs, from REI and Columbia work great. Patagonia and The North Face have tighter pockets in my experience. Ymmv.

I like pants with lots of pockets, since I carry a fair bit of stuff and I have to give up one of the two largest pockets to the holstered firearm.

Any cargo pant will work, but I like Carhartt's because of the extra belt loops and thicker material overall, to minimize sagging, especially with heavier guns. "Relaxed-fit" jeans also have larger front pockets.

Since I'm kind a cheap, I usually pocket carry in Levi Signature brand from Wally World.....No holster, just in the pocket.....:)

Depends on what gun I am trying to conceal.

I can carry my NAA Mini-revolver in .22wmr in any pair of Levi's, even the type that are snug.

To carry my S&W 340PD, I need to step up the my Levi 550's which are more relaxed or loose fit.

For clothing good for carry--e.g., bigger / deeper pockets made from more durable materials, check out the ones at Duluth Trading Co. Here's a link to all their casual pants. They also have some decent jackets and sports coats--decent for casual wear, and decent for pockets of a type cc'rs like to see. Here's the link to that page.

I own one of their denim 'presentation' jackets as well, and it is satisfactory for j-frame carry, kind-of. A P3AT simply disappears--but that will disappear into just about any pocket. The point is, at least they provide multiple pockets of varying sizes in a product that is well-made.

I consider the company a bit high-priced, and they seem to be an MBA-business-type company with clever marketing techniques. (Note that they are not located in Duluth, MN, but in WI, near those other clothing distribution operations.) But, their mid-priced jeans line has roomy pockets and are durable--and their 'fire hose' products are very tough and durable.

Depends on how big the gun is. I use a FIST kydex pocket holster with my Kahr P9 and have no trouble pocket carrying in anything from Dockers to jeans.
.

You'll find that high quality slacks have plenty of fabric & space to conceal just about anything better than jeans or cargo pants. They tend to have pleats right where you want to hide the outline.

Levi and Sonoma cargo pants both work well. Have good deep pockets and use heavy fabric so print through is not a problem. I've not had any luck with Arizona jeans (relaxed fit) - the pockets are not deep enough to conceal my J frame.

I like pleated front khakis with pockets that are not sewn to the pants leg. I reinforce the pocket I carry in with iron on patches.

Dockers, Levis, Polo, Nautica all work fine for me, as long as the pocket is loose and the pants are pleated.

I pocket carry a Model 38 or 49 in a Uncle Mike's #3.

Levi Strauss supports those who would take away our gun rights. They get no money from me! They make Dockers, too. I have found Wrangler Riatas, with are pleated slacks with a slight Western flavor, to be excellent for concealing snubbies up to SP101 in size. Propper BDU pants also work well. My favorite jeans are the relaxed-fit gusset-crotch jeans made by Diamond Gusset jeans in Tenessee.

My 2" J-frame with a pocket holster conceals nicely in a 5.11 front pocket (classic style). It goes to church that way on Sundays too. :)

Well, the only jeans I've found with a wide-deep front pocket for my pocket holstered snub nose is made by Lee, called RIDERS, relaxed fit. Anderson's is the only place I've found them for men, in the work section with Dickie and Carhart jeans.

I like the Carpenter Pants from Sportsman's Guide. Plenty of room for the fat guy and his gear. I all ways carry 2 Revolvers, Reloads, Knife, Flashlight, Pepper spray, a Wallet and, Cell Phone.

Wrangler cargos work for me. I like to carry in a front pocket, though, and they have a decent sized front pocket. I carry my wallet and such in a cargo pocket. I don't like sitting on a pile of credit cards. LOL

When I buy pants, I just check out the size of the front pockets. I don't put the gun in there, but know about how big it needs to be.

Columbia Sportswear makes a jean style pant that I like for pocket carry. On the right side, under the 'normal' pocket, is a second pocket that has a zipper on it. I can carry a lightweight revolver in this inner pocket easily in a pocket holster, and the material of the outer pocket covers it completely. I add a little 2" or 3" cord on the zipper to make it easy to open. Also great for carrying extra cash in that pocket if I'm carrying in a holster.

eagle 45, what is the name of those Columbia Sportswear pants? I checked its website and there are a million choices.

Unisaw -

Well it took awhile, but I think I found it. The pants I have I bought in the summer of 2006 (yeah, I know, I don't keep up with fashion!), and I don't know if they are listed on Columbia's website or not. I can't find any kind of a name on them, other than Columbia. On the inside of the pants, on the pocket liner, it said 'Granite Cloth' and 'Security Pocket". Googling that took me here: http://www.bizrate.com/mensclothing/products__keyword--columbia+roc+mens+pant.html

It looks like these 'roc' pants. The third one down and the fifth one down both mention the side security pocket. Mine also has a small side pocket, like a utility pocket, just about knee level on the right side. Good for a cell phone or maybe a clip knife, not really a full pocket.
