Pocket Carry: The Best Pants To Wear

Any sort of cargo pants are usually loose enough to not print too bad with a pocket gun. Jeans are usually a little tighter, and those RIDICULOUS U-shaped pockets make it difficult to draw from. The only jeans I really wear are some Dungarees that have slant cut pockets like you find on slacks. They're still a little tighter in the pocket area than cargoes, but at least I can get my hand in them.

I usually carry a 642 in an Uncle Mike's pocket holster. If wearing jeans other than the previously mentioned Dungarees, I'll either carry IWB or a P3AT in the same pocket holster. Carrying in a pocket without a holster is a good way to draw an inoperative gun. I pulled my P3AT out after some pocket carry without a holster and all I got was a *click* instead of a *bang* - pocket lint got inside the gun and slowed the hammer down enough that it wouldn't fire. Tapped and racked, next round fired and produced a cloud of lint - only funny because it was at the range and not on the street. Just something to keep in mind.

I personally like the Orvis Zambezi Twill Cargo pants (and shorts).

They are pricey, but I get the via accumulating points on an Orvis credit card, so I don't actually spend $ on the pants.

The material is good. The cargo pockets are just large enough for a Kimber Ultra, although my preferred carry in a Kahr PM9 on one side and a pair of spare mags on the other.

The regular pockets I end up using for things like wallets and keys.
