Here's some pics of my pocket change

It is a S&W 642 with a Milt-Sparks PCH-R1

Another vote for the Seecamp. Although we don't have CCW here yet, my Seecamp will take up permanent residence in my pocket as soon as we do. I've had in there working around the house on numerous occassions, and never had a problem. I'll be using a Milt Sparks pocket holster for it...

One thing though: that tiny little 32 has probably the WORST felt recoil I've ever seen (barring certain member's hotloads). NOT a fun gun to shoot...

I carry a KT P 3AT about 75% of the time due to my working conditions. I was carrying a SW 642 until my wife transitioned from her KT P32 to the SW. Here is a list of all of the guns I have used for pocket carry.

Kel-Tec P11- too big for all of my pockets except BDU's, but if you can conceal it, it is great

SW 642/442- have owned one of each and they work great for just about all pocket sizes and when they do print they don't scream GUN! as bad as the semi-autos

SW 38- the blued bodyguard model ....loved it and never should have traded it off....... :banghead:

KT P32- bought one of thee soon after the were introduced, had no problems with to speak of, my wife has had two, the first was stolen and replaced with the second. The only thing I would say about these is to use FMJ only due to possibility of rimlock. Rimlock is why my wife quit carrying hers.

KT P3AT- my current pocket gun, slightly smaller than the P32, but carries a much better round. Mine has been 100% reliable so far and you don't even know it is there. Much lighter and flatter than the jframes.

I carry the Kel-Tec P3AT also. Great little gun. My only complaint about it has been the long trigger reset.

Thanks for all of the replies!

I'm still mulling this over. I won't be in a position to buy for a couple of months so I still have some time to test drive a few options.

I'm leaning towards a light weight J frame. I have an SP101 which is pocketable but it's not exactly a pocket gun ;) I'm trying my best to warm up to the hammerless J frame models but without the hammer they look somehow "wrong".

Thanks again!
Brent...

I don't know,,,,

I kinda like the hammerless look. I had a guy at the range say my 642 was a hell of a nice gun, but it was ugly as hell:scrutiny: . Maybe it is like the A-10, it maybe ugly, but it sure gets the job done. Honestly, I didn't like hammerless either initially, but the 642 grew on me. I'd like to get a hammerlass SP-101 for belt carry whenever I can justify setting the funds aside for one.

Hammerless has a lot of benefits. It can be fired from within a pocket without worries of the hammer catching on material. The enclosed hammer helps to keep lint and debris out of the internals. For pocket carry, you don't have to worrk about the hammer wearing on clothing or catching on material on draw.

The only drawback is that you can't fire in single action, but really, is that a requirement for the job? These aren't target guns.

Detective Special

Jar,
I also have a Detective Special with the same grips. Isn't nice to have an Agent grip profile on a DS.:D

I second Shooter one's remark. How do you manage to carry anything larger than a NAA in a front pocket. Obviously no one wears Levis but me and Shooter One, cause I promise there ain't no room for anything like a j frame Smith or a Makarov. IWB is the only thing that works for me.

the simple answer is get pants with larger pockets...you can go the BDU or Royal Robin route...

Or you can do what I suggest to my customers...find a seamstress to cut the pocket out and resew it a bit bigger with denim material...last ones I got "modified" cost me $5.00...

I carry a p-11 9mm from time to time and it carries easily...I sell my "oblivion" large pocket holsters (P-11, MK9-40) for those that want a bit bigger bang bang in there pocket...They just have pants with big pockets...nothing to it:neener:

For those about to rock?? We salute you!!!!!

Ya, when i want to start advertising the fact that i am packing, ill switch to royals or BDUs...until then, ill stick with small guns, good rigs, and jeans.

Nothing screams "survivalist" like some good BDUs.

Arinvolvo,
I couldnt agree more....tactical pants are one of the simplist ways to spot a cop or a wannabe...I like to compare them to the "urban cowboy"..yea you know the type, HUGE belt buckel, cowboy hat, and boots the whole nine yards...And the closest they have been to a cow is at Burger King...lol..... down here the "ninja's" even goto the grocery store dressed that way...I get a chuckle out of them everytime I see them..they are also a direct "cousin" of the dreaded "mall ninja" and it always causes me to grin every time I see them:D

I conceal a P-11 or whatever just wearing normal pants...so can everyone else..leave the tactical stuff to swat or the "ninja's"...

arinvolvo,
I'm a LEO. Three things you won't find me wearing off duty, are BDU anything, fanny pack, or vest. Heck I don't even wear all the neat T-shirts with the DTF logos that are given to me from time to time. I can't get away with pocket carry, so I have to make do with small guns the majority of the time. My current 24/7 is a kel tec P 3AT, usually carried IWB, weak side using a kel tec pocket clip. Even with a tucked shirt the thing dissappears.

My P-11 lives in the right front pocket of my off the rack "Hampton Bay" dungarees. I have no trouble with printin' and I use an Uncle Mike's sidekick in-the-pocket holster. In all honesty however I have been accused of havin' "deep pockets".:D

Home invasion has become a very popular sport with BG's in Florida and crimes against the elderly are on the increase every day, consequently senior citizens are arming themselves at an alarming rate here in gun friendly Florida.
I'm a retired military man and I have fired weapons in anger many years ago in a place called Viet Nam. At 68 years and full of arthritus I can no longer run away or engage in a wrestling match or fisticuffs with a bad guy. Having said all that, I carry a handgun on my person at all times, at home, in the yard, going to the 7-11, I'm never without either my Glock 26 or Kahr PM9. I am one who would have no quams whatsoever about dumping a magazine into a home invader or anyone trying to harm either my wife or myself.
In Florida shorts and T-shirts are uniform of the day almost year round, the Kahr hides very well in the pocket of most any brand of shorts or Docker slacks. I keep the Kahr stoked with seven rounds of Cor-Bon PowerBall ammo, at 1475 fps and 483 ft/lbs that should serve to change the mind set of a would be attacker, hopefully by then, if it is a home invasion, my 100lb Rottweiler, "Chief", will be on the job, he's been taught to go for the crotch and he has no fear of anything.
