Pocket handgun needed !!!

If that doesnt work for you, i would choose a NAA .32 ACP guardian, which is just as good IMO. It has a magazine capacity of 6 rounds, and a height of 3.3", and a length of 4.4". Trigger pull is 13.0 lbs, and it goes for about $400 retail.
Those Guardians are nice. I just ordered one for myself. I would suggest either getting the .32NAA or the .380 versions though if you like a little more bang. They are a little larger but still very cool. The .380 is basically a small Kahr since Kahr Arms makes the frame and the slide for NAA. The frame even has "Kahr Arms" stamped on it. This is opnly true of the .380 version.

Turning down the Keltec because of the way it looks? Now I have heard everything. :scrutiny:

Here in the Texas summer, it's often the only pistol I can conceal, but to each his own.

1. My P-32 is butt-ugly . . . but then again . . . it is CONCEALED, right?;)

The very, very best thing about it is that I can simply drop it in my pocket, without even a holster, and generally not have to worry about it "printing" on the material (with a simple rollerball pen also placed on top of it.

I've worn it even when wearing simple, drawstring-top "gym shorts" while working in the yard and it doesn't have enough weight to pull the shorts down.

It is truly liberating to literally be able to "carry" anywhere that's legal . . . and the Kel-Tec P32 definately fills that bill!!!

2. More clothes? My Colt, aluminum-framed "Agent .38spl. snubbie is a logical step up. It is hardly heavier than the Kel-Tec and nearly as tiny as a S&W J-frame. However, it packs six rounds instead of five. Mine has the optional Colt hammer shroud too.

3. Need more gun? That's when I go to my Kimber Ultra CDP in .45ACP. It's a high dollar gun with lots going for it. However, even with an aluminum frame, the Ultra CDP is heavier than most can get away with in a "pocket gun" . . . but it surely is concealable in a belt holster!!!

4. My Model 65 .357 is an awesome CCW revolver . . . though it's steel frame requires a belt holster.

5. In winter, when I can get away with it, I strap on my FAVORITE handgun, my big, chopped barrel, S&W 25-2 revolver in .45ACP.

Lately, I've been carrying the mouse guns less, and the .45ACP more. Big bullets end fights and get the job done much better!!! If the SHTF, I want something that will end the threat before I get hurt by an attacker! Mouse guns can't generally be depended on to do this consistently.

Hope this helps!

I'm going with a Glock 26. I'm skinny and can't conceal guns on the hip well either. Glock 26's and 5 shot revolvers will fit in my front pants pocket. I think I'll pick up the 26, get an Uncle Mike's pocket holster for it, and have 13 rounds in the pocket instead of 5.

I've tried other smaller 9s like the Millennium Pro, the CZ RAMI, and the XD compact, but the 26 fits the pocket better than those.

Another Seecamp pic

Yes, 100% high grade stainless, except for the grips that is. While the NAA is very similar, it is 30% heavier than the Seecamp.

I live in SoFl, and carry a 5 shot snub IWB or OWB under a loose t-shirt or with a loose polo or short sleeve shirt. But if you can't do that, then I suggest a S&W airweight 642 for the pocket. The taurus version will work also but it's slightly larger. If you prefer an auto, then go with the keltec. The bersa is just a little too big and heavy for everyday pocket carry.

The gun I've chosen and carry very comfortably in my poxket is a Kimber Ultra Carry II, .45ACP, 7 + 1 very powerful rounds. In my Sam Andrews www.andrewsleather.com , pocket holster it rides securely, prints like a wallet and draws very easily. It is approximately the same size and weight as the snubbies, and many semi-auto mouse guns that so many favor.

I'd venture to say south Texas is more uncomfortable in late summer than even Florida, but it's probably a close race. I've been to west Palm Beach late summer a week after Andrew hit south of Miami. It wasn't as bad as I'm used to at that time, but I was only there a week. But, carry problems are similar and, yeah, I prefer pocket to IWB in this heat.

My own battery of carry guns includes one small .380 (it's an old Grendel P12) that I can carry everywhere in a back pocket with a good wallet holster. I'm considering a P3AT because it's smaller and more accurate (probably) and has a better trigger than the Grendel, but the Grendel carries 12 rounds. Anyway, that's my bottom line when all else fails to work for me.

My Kel Tec P11 is my primary, what I carry every day, and I have a .38 Taurus M85UL I carry occasionally around here, especially when I'm doing something outdoors. My P11 sees most of my carry. I have to chose my jeans and pants for this gun for pocket size because it's no P3AT. But, with the right pocket, it hides well. I have a Law Concealment Systems gun pouch for the P11 or M85UL that works as a pocket holster OR IWB, a rather unique little chunk of leather. The gun just looks like a large wallet in the pocket if it's even noticed. Either the little subcompact 9 or the revolver carry well and comfortably IWB in it, also and hide under just a long T shirt.

I occasionally carry my .45 caliber Ruger P90 IWB in a Milt Sparks summer special if I'm going to the big city, going shopping there, traveling somewhere where I think the threat level might justify it. I've found that the Sparks rig can hide even a big, chunky gun like the P90 under a T and a vest (not in summer, thanks) or a baggy Hawaiian style shirt which would not look out of place in south Florida. It is part of my battery, but I don't carry that gun much due to weight and inconvenience and low threat level of my small town environment. I really don't foresee the need for more than my little pocket nine, but I shoot that P90 really well and have a lot of confidence in it. I usually carry my P11 as back up when I have the P90, two spare .45 mags, one spare 10 round 9mm mag, ain't much I ain't ready for on the street when so armed, or at least that's my opinion.

I prefer not to rely on a 1 gun battery. I have a few guns I can carry depending on the dress code of the day. That's how I approach it, and heck, I like having lots of options and a good gun collection.:D I've got other guns I could carry and other guns I have carried, but I see these four as my main carry battery.

If I were you, starting out, first gun I'd obtain is a P3AT in .380. That one will ride anywhere in any pocket. Get a decent pocket holster for it and a spare mag or two. Then, I'd get a PF9 Kel Tec, new and just released, thinner than the P11, a little better trigger, accurate, and thinner in the pocket. Then, I'd look for the big gun for big gun IWB duties. It could be a .357 revolver, but most likely I'd look into a lighter .45 or .40 or 9mm high cap. There are tons of choices that I like. I'd love to have a little single stack Smith and Wesson 3913 9mm, would be a lot easier to carry than my Rugers. Or, the Taurus .45ACP millennium pro whatever the number is sounds like a nice gun that should carry well. There's Kahrs, Sigs, CZs, all sorts of compact IWB big gun choices. I just happen to have this Ruger P90 that I really, really like, flawless functioning, deadly accurate, and a fantastic DA trigger and it points natural and fills my hand perfectly, so that's what I've settled on in IWB big guns for now. I don't see anything taking its place anytime soon. The P97 is a more compact, lighter, plastic frame version of the P90, but I really don't have the hots for one. The P345 is thinner, but I don't like a few of the "features" of that gun and the P97 is just as easy to carry IWB IMHO.

I'm neither a 1911 type guy or a single action auto type guy, so those are totally ruled out of my carry battery. I also am not a "safe action" guy so Glocks are not considered, only DAO or true DA/SA. That's an individual thing with me, my preference.

Another vote for the Kel-Tec P3-AT in .380. Small enough to fit in the palm of the hand. Put the pistol clip on it, tuck it inside the waist band, and forget it's there. And the spare mag will fit nicely in the watch-pocket of your jeans. Not to mention that it's cheap enough that you can buy one for your wife as well.

baggy Hawaiian style shirt which would not look out of place in south Florida
Hey, you think we all dress like tourists down here? Actually I do have a fine collection of Hawaiin style shirts :D They do hide a lot. I can wear a p89 in a shoulder rig and just leave the front open and you can't see the gun.

I live in hot and humid Florida and for me pocket carry is the only way to go. I have a collection of pocket holsters. Currently my concealed carry guns are
a KT P-11, KT P-3AT, and a S&W model 60. I pick the one that best fits the the pocket of the clothes that are worn that day.

Kel-Tec P-3AT.

Small
Light
Fairly powerful
Inexpensive to buy and shoot
Ugly - maybe
But a pocket gun, by definition stays in a pocket. No one including you will see it in your pocket. If you need to use it and you are concerned about the BGs opinion, don't worry - he/she will see the blur of the muzzle for only a second or so, and probably won't really care too much if it looks nice. After that the muzzle blast and loud BANG will hopefully distract his/her aesthetic sensibilities.

As much as we may want to save the BGs any undue trauma from the horror of viewing an ugly gun, from my perspective it is not anywhere near the top of the priority list in choosing a self-defense weapon.

Now a gun under glass in a finely crafted case - that's different!

Just my opinion…

MD Will...Taurus Mil Pros are decent handguns for the money. Taurus is know for making an occasional lemon though, but they have a lifetime warranty, so if it is a NIB gun you should be fine. The PT111 are very popular, and when they are 100% their owners love them, if it is used...there might be a reason.

Ugly - maybe

More like...Ugly - Definately

Asthetics:
I too must admit to not being willing to buy one of these plastic monsters due to the fact i just cannot stomach their look nor their build material.

Performance:
Too many reputable people on here give them good marks for there to not be something to them.

Still, get the Seecamp. Comparing a Seecamp to a Keltec is like comparing a '68 Mustang to a '75 Vega.

Still, get the Seecamp. Comparing a Seecamp to a Keltec is like comparing a '68 Mustang to a '75 Vega.
Not the best comparison...
A Mustang both performs and looks better than a Vega and costs a lot more.
A Seecamp only looks better than a Kel-Tec and costs a lot more (performance is about the same, except Seecamp .380s are a bit more ammo sensitive).

If looking pretty is worth almost twice the price and a long wait, then I say "Go for it!"

I just happen to be a "Function over Form" kinda guy. To me a gun is a tool. I don't buy a tool based on how it looks. I buy it based first on how well it will do the job and second on how long it will last with as little cost in time and money to maintain it as possible. If it looks good too, that's great! But I won't pay any extra money for the looks.

Bobo,

We will have to disagree on performance levels. I have never known a Seecamp owner to have a single problem if they use the right ammo. I have heard issues with the keltecs.

And as far as longevity, the seecamp will be yours in 100 yrs...I doubt the same can be said for the KelTec

Hey armedpolak, I don't share your dilema. As you can see in these pictures, I too am a skinny bastard, I live in the Florida panhandle where its unbearably hot thanks to crazy humidity right off the Gulf, and I can easily totally conceal my P2K.

This is my casual, typical everyday wear. Sometimes when it's in the triple digits I might swap the pants for shorts, and even then it's still just as easy to conceal with a Tshirt. If you say it's a project each morning to drop any IWB holster (you must have an OWB) into your pants and hook it up, I would venture to guess you have only one arm. This holster here goes on and comes off as easy as any OWB paddle holster, and it keeps my piece high n' tight, just the way I like it. As long as you sinch your belt down nice and tight you even forget you have it on.

The holster is a Comp-Tac IWB with J-hooks, but they have a number of methods of securing the holster. The belt is a simple 1'' leather belt I got at Sears. If I can pull this off with the same gun, you must not be using an IWB. I suggest you move on over to www.comp-tac.com and get yourself one, because I don't see the sense in dropping $200+ on a new gun when you can spend ~$85 on a great holster that will do everything you want.

How much does a Seecamp cost? If cost is no problem, trash the Seecamp and get a Rohrbaugh, the smallest 9x19mm available.

I use my defensive arms for shooting, not lookin' at, sorry, but looks don't matter, function does. And, what you might like, I might think is ugly as sin, that "eyes of the beholder" thing.

If all that mattered was looks, I'd carry a single action Colt SAA and nothing else, preferably engraved with stag or mother of pearl grips. No handgun on earth, Seecamps, 1911s, anything, look better to me than a nice SAA.
