The knife in question is a small Buck pen knife, two blades, the longer of which is about 2 inches long.

I hope this is not too off-topic, but I candidly admit it is not a RKBA issue. Moderators, feel free to move or delete.

I will be traveling to Spain next week. I would like to pack a pocket knife in my checked luggage and carry the knife in Spain. As stated above, the knife is a small pen knife, not an auto, spring assisted, otf, switchblade, lockblade, butterfly, or any other type of knife that might serve as a weapon. I do not consider the knife as a weapon (hence, the lack of a RKBA issue). I just find the knife really handy and I really miss having the knife when forced to leave it in the car.

Does anyone know if this will be a problem in Spain? If I had the knife confiscated it would not be a big deal, but I would hate to pack the knife if confiscation was virtually inevitable.

What about purchasing a new one in Spain? You could also get legal info there as well from the merchant? I have read conflicting info about this topic so I'm sorry for not being that helpful.

Wasn't a problem for me last year. Awesome country, I am sure you will have a good time. Customs just waves you through, plus I doubt they are looking for small pocket knives.

Spain has a thriving knife industry, you'll find pocket knives available pretty much everywhere. From that I'd conclude that you are safe carrying your pen knife.

We were their about 6 months ago. The availability of some "serious" cutlery is every where. Decent prices also. I would advise you to just "buy local" and prior to departure just give it to whomever you are staying with. Eliminates all the "hassle factor".

You shouldn't have any problem with your Case, but I'd try to get several nice knives from Albacete while there and ship them back home.
