Nice find! Good deal!

Local gun store had Georgia Department of Corrections S&W M64 revolvers for sale at $279. These are mid 1980's 38 Special revolvers, and that was too good of a deal to walk away from. These revolvers had been shot very little, mostly dumped into things, so they had scratches. Of course the store employees had purchased the like new ones :cuss:well before I arrived on the scene. Such is life.

Look, go through the pile, find something that is tight, good trigger, lots of finish left, and save some money.

Sometimes you find interesting firearms:

Nice find! Good deal!

I purchased two Colt DS from PIPP, back in the 1980's The NYPD and surrounding Police agencies had traded in their revolvers for autopistols. I wish I had bought a boat load of NYPD marked DS's, at $150.00 apiece. As it was, I purchased what looked to the be oldest DS's in the pile, and those happened to be marked PIPP.

I have got to take a picture of my S&W M64, but it won't be any time soon.

I'm going to check out 5280 armory tomorrow in person, it's the biggest gun store nearby. I hope they have leo trade ins but not holding my breath.

Thanks for the advice fellas, I have a lot of catching up to do with my collection

Turns out that because the police here can purchase their own sidearm from an approved list, there just aren't trade ins like there are for departments that issue officers with the same model. At least there are online stores, thanks again!

I'm not big on steel framed pistols, but were I to get one I would want something that's popular, common, and reliable. Browning Hi Power, Beretta 92's, and S&W all fit that bill.

Depending on the model, for under $400, I'd buy one.

Some of the Sig p226s (DAK) that GT Distributors has were traded in by the Shelby County Sheriff Department. Should have SCSO followed by a number on the left side of the frame. I was able to hand select mine wen I got it. I would rate it as like new since it did not have any wear and the only sign that it had ever been fired was a little carbon in the barrel.
I got it early in their swap to Glock and was told that it most likely was a inventory gun (never issued).

That is awesome, unfortunately I would have to travel out of state to hand pick a leo trade in as it looks like Colorado is dry
