OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- A Roy officer was shot and wounded while trying to apprehend a robbery suspect following a chase from Roy to Ogden, police said.
The officer was in stable condition and a suspect was in custody, Roy Police Chief Greg Whinham said.
The officer and the suspect were involved in an altercation after a foot chase at the time of the shooting, about 10 p.m. Sunday, Whinham said.
Details were skimpy, but another Roy officer apparently fired during the incident, which began after two Roy convenience-store robberies and a vehicle theft.
Police pursed the stolen vehicle for about an hour on Interstate 15 and around Ogden.
Ogden Police Chief Jon Greiner said the vehicle crashed through a building and a foot chase followed.
The names of the officers and the suspect have not been released.
