(Aurora-AP) - Police say a southern Indiana police officer was shot and wounded by an Indianapolis murder suspect during a car chase.

State Police say Officer Josh Daugherty noticed a vehicle matching the description of one wanted in connection with an Indianapolis homicide. The suspect was traveling west on US 50 in Aurora, about 20 miles west of Cincinnati along the Ohio River.

Daugherty was traveling in the opposite direction and turned around in pursuit. Police say the suspect then fired at Daugherty, injuring his left hip. The suspect then tried to escape on foot, but was chased down by Lawrenceburg Police Department.

Daugherty is being treated at Dearborn County Hospital for minor injuries. Police identified the suspect as Thomas Tracy Junior. Tracy is wanted for questioning in connection with the murder of 27-year-old Stacy Nance. Nance was shot and killed inside a home on South Randolph Street on the city's south side.

Ouch. Anyone from that area? I was wondering if the Officer was shot outside his car or in it. If in it the bad guy was either one heck of a shot or just lucky....and the cop was not.
