Has anyone seen or heard anything about polymer cased ammo?

I was in Bass Pro Shops this afternoon and found some .223 FMJBT polymer cased ammo, made by NATEC, Inc. and marketed under the name PCA - spectrum.

The salesman said he believed it may have been developed by the military to lessen weight. He said it feeds fine and he's heard the accuracy is supposedly good. The box says not to use it in fluted chambers.

Anyone know if it's any good? I picked up 20 rounds to try out. It cost $2.99 for 20 rounds.

Thanks cordex. One day, I'll get a clue and remember to use the search function.

Oh well, it never hurts to bring an interesting subject back to life for those like me who missed it the first time.

Gun test magazine said it worked for them, was lighter, but not quite as accurate as some other ammo they were testing.

Not reloadable, but I'm sure it will be the coming thing. More empties no one will bother to pick up, I suppose.

Let us know how your gun likes it.

I've also seen a polymer-cased .38 Special 158gr. TJC - I'm not sure of the name of the company that makes it, something like "Spitfire" IIRC. I haven't tried it, but according to the gunshop, they've had no complaints from those who've bought it. Cheap, too, compared to most other brands.
