Poor Service From Comp-Tac---Resolved!!!
After a ton of recommendations I finally decided to buy a Comp-Tac CTAC for my G26. For me, being able to comfortably tuck is the most important thing. Techbrute let me borrow his to try out before I bought what could have been another expensive holster that sits in the drawer because it does not work as intended. Not the case. It works like a dream, and I recommend them for that.
This is where the problem is...
The have 4 different clip designs that you choose when you make your order. Standard, J-Clip, C-Clip and V-Clip. I felt that my needs would be best met with the J-clip, so that is what I intended to order.
When I spoke to Tammy at Comp-Tac on the phone, she was very firm and very polite. In other words, she made me really think of her as an expert and I could trust her guidance. She highly suggested that the J-Clip that I was interested in was probably the worst choice out there. The then in turn said that the Standard clip would be great and serve my needs much better. I believed her. I asked what she thought about the size because of all of the clip styles, this was the most obtrusive and obvious that something was behind the scenes. Her reply was that people these days have so much stuff on their belts these days that nobody will even look at it. Cell phones, pagers, iPods, multi-tools etc...people are used to seeing all of this stuff and nobody would notice.
Well, I had my holster shipped to my office. It came in and I was eager to try it out. I took my G26 out of the ankle holster it was in and quickly got suited up with my new rig. It felt great, and I was VERY excited.
Ok, fast forward a few hours....
I walked into a co-workers office for a minute. As I was exiting his office he says hey, whats that on your belt, clipped in? Is that a gun holster? Lucky for me, he knows I am a shooter and I dont work in an anti-gun environment. I responded quickly with yeah it is, and kinda shrugged it off. So much for the "nobody will notice" plan. Now, I do not expect 100% of the people to allow it to go un-noticed, but I was highly surprised to have a co-worker see it so quickly. Then, when I walked in the door that night at home as I passed my wife on the couch she said "nice holster dear". Now, she has not even seen that holster before and of course, this was still with a shirt tucked in just like it was at work that same day. She noticed it right away also.
So, after some thinking, I decided I needed to call Comp-Tac to see what they could help me figure out. I called yesterday and did not get a call back when I left a voicemail, so I called back again today. I explained the whole thing to a guy on the phone. He put me on hold. Another guy picked up and said the guy had another call and had to go, so I had to explain it to him again. He said, well since Tammy helped you before, she will have to help you now because she handles all the pricing. So, he got Tammy for me and yet again, I had to explain all of this to her. Her reply was ok, we can sell you a set of the other clips, which do you want? I suggest that I dont want to pay for another set of clips by saying, what can we work out? She says I can return the clips I have, pay the upgrade charge to the other clips, and pay for shipping on the new clips. This would run about 8-10 bucks, which is not a big deal really. I see that its too much trouble to do this because I will be without my CTAC for about a week and just ask her to give me a good deal on the clips I want and I will just keep the ones I have here. So, I am again offered the regular price, plus shipping. One alternate she gave me was to go to a local gun show and see one of their dealers and "tell them we said to just exchange them for you". Ok, so I have to go pay admission and hope the guy has what I want, along with driving about 40 miles each way to the show. To me, this is crap and also too much trouble, especially for an item that costs about $1.00 to make.
I am pissed. I feel like they should give (or sell them much cheaper than retail) me the clips in good faith and I pay the shipping to me. Another option would be to send me the clips and then let me send back the other ones. This way I am not without the holster for the turn time it takes to get them back.
I only feel this way because it seemed like she went out of her way to tell me that I need a certain kind that was not what I had intentions of buying to begin with.
So, Comp-Tac, if you are listening, please work with me...
