Possible a new shooter and much much more.

Update: My lady has come to a cross roads. She has narrowed her choices down to a Smith and Wesson 9mm M&P shield or a Canik tp9sa. Thoughts on these two choices. The Smith is not the 2.0 and is a single stack magazine holding 7-8 rounds and the Canik is 18 rounds. I have no experience with either of these firearms.

My wife's first gun was a ruger sr22. She used it to get her concealed carry . She liked the capacity, and she liked the changeable back strap so she could ensure trigger reach. She never fully warmed to it and traded it towards a sig p238.

She's carried this since, but it takes awhile each time to dial it in for her. It isn't draw and shoot. She likes that it's small, light, good sites, but struggles with disassembly and has me clean it.

Lately she's decided she just likes 1911s and revolvers. And even said she'd like to sell or trade the 238 and get a model 60. she is able to get immediately on target from draw with this.

Revolvers...still a good choice in 2023!

It's funny that you mentioned the Glock 21. I had a gal (late 30's early 40's) from California out to my house, 2 summers ago. She is shooter and loves her Glock 21. She is friends with friends of mine and her & I spent the afternoon shooting all my guns that she can't own in California - AK47's, AR15's, suppressed guns, etc.on my backyard range.

When she was about to leave my house, I gave her a couple 13rd Glock 21 mags to take home with her. Figure there were some high cap mag amnesty periods in California's recent history where CA gun owner could've bought High Cap Mags.

I also have owned Glock 21's on and off since 1996. She shoots the Glock 21 better than I do.

A good website for women shooters, new & old:

Edited to add: Going back to the California Gal - I gave her a loaded 75rd drum for one of my AK47's and told her to shoot it as fast as she could. She had a HUGE smile on her face afterwards!!!

Find a good female oriented gun/SD class - it's worth the money. Just buying a gun is not sufficient.

Win/win. My M&P and my Canik TP9 series are both good shooters. Mine are both full-sized versions, but I'd carry a compact one, NP.
