Although I have found info on both of these guns I haven't seen this question answered.

Both the M&P Shield and the XDs have had recalls. My understanding is that the XDs' trigger is not as pleasant after the factory fix.

I am about to purchase one of these and want to know your thoughts of both post recall.

I can't comment on the Shield, but I recently picked up a post recall manufactured XDs in 45 ACP. It's a lot of fun! Check out the attached pic from yesterday. Nevermind the 6 round group in the middle...that was with my strong hand only.

My trigger as new was horrible...just under 8 lbs! The good news is for under $20 there's an aftermarket spring kit that can reduce that into the 5 lb range, and some have tweaked a spring to get there with no additional investment. I'll run mine for a while before I do anything.

In the first 125 rounds I had 4 light strikes...all on some handloads that were worked up for a 1911 of mine. But after detail stripping the slide and cleaning all of the factory goop out of it, I've fired another 125 with only 1 light strike. No issues with 50 rds of Remington UMC 230 gr FMJ and no issues with 50 rds of PMC 230 gr FMJ...shot with both hands and one handed (right and left). The loads I had issues with were some XTP JHP that I chrono'd @ only 660 fps. I'm guessing if I work up a new load for this 3.3" barrel with a little more prp, or stick with factory ammo, I'm pretty sure I won't have any more light strikes.

You probably can't go wrong with either. If the Smith were available in 45 ACP, I would have gone with them because they are a U.S. company.

Good luck!

There are roughly a bazillion threads about this precise question. If you want every little gory detail, the xdtalk forum has it all. If you search on this site, you'll find a lot.

Sorry but when I used the search feature I didn't come up with results. Perhaps I am doing something wrong or the search doesn't work on my phone. Do you have any links?

I appreciate the help.

Not at all IMO. I like the trigger better now actually. It's smoother.
