potential regs on folded length

I've made a decision to go with a folding stock 7.62x51mm rifle.

the 18" barrel has a folded length of under 30"
the 21" barrel has a folded length of 32"

It was my understanding that there could be changes in the regs that would ban or not allow a shorter length than 30 inches ?

Have no idea if that is true, false or in between ?

But if that was the case, for those people that own weapons that folded shorter than 30 inches, what would happen ? Illegal to own ? have to turn in ?

Guess I'm thinking maybe I should go with the 21 inch barrel

Granted - may be a goofy question - just asking how that type of ruling might affect those that have a tactical rifle that is shorter than 30 inches.

No one knows what may actually come in the future, but I've not heard anything like your talking about.
