So I posted my first pic in another thread and realized it wasn't a big deal after all...So here's two more!
I've said many times that I'm strictly into "J's, K's and 1911's" I've been paring down my relatively meager collection lately for many reasons. Among them are caliber consolidation (.45 and .38/.357 only), the simple fact that those three categories seem to cover all the bases I feel the need to cover and basically because I caught myself with a couple guns 'just to have' that I wasn't really into. So the .40's are long gone and the last .380 is SPF. I sometimes think about getting a 9mm or .22 but go back to "if I had the dough laying around to buy another gun, (not likely:eek: ) I'd just as soon buy another J, K or 1911". .22's are fun, I guess, but don't really "do it" for me, and aside from maybe a BHP, I'm not really into the other autos, either, (not even the high-end stuff). So, here's my little stable. The M37 is going to be sold to help pay for a 342 that's on it's way. And OK, the Colt doesn't really fit but I've really become attached to it over the years. I'm actually getting ready to put a couple of bucks into tightening her up.
Enjoy.

OK, so after posted and then re-reading, I realized posting pics really is no big deal...when they're crappy pics!!!:(

I think they're all pretty common and obvious but just to cover it, clockwise from top right:
M65-3 3" with Pachy "Presentation/Compac" grips
M19-4 (P+R) 2-1/2" w/wood boots
M37-2 bobbed hammer
Springfield 5" "Loaded"
Springfield 3" Ltwt, loaded "Micro-Compact"
Colt Police Positive Special 4" (circa 1912-1913)

I agree with Redundancy in platforms and calibers.
"Rule of four" as it is sometimes called.

I also agree with 1911 , J and K frames in 45ACP and .38spl dedicated and .38spl/ .357.

I also feel a .22 handgun, is a great tool for so many reasons. .22 revolvers are great for teaching new shooters and affords inexpensive practice for a Wheelgun. Same to be said for semi -auto .22 , including the conversions for 1911 style guns.

Oh...if you have not, do get some Speer Rubber bullets to shoot out of them wheelguns, great for teaching, when the weather is bad and have a safe indoor place to shoot, trigger time is always good...These add a new dimension to Fun Factor.

Thanks for sharing-

Steve

It is hard to go wrong with a collection based on .45 and .357/38. I got rid of a bunch of the collection at one point and got it down to your 2 (3?) calibers plus 9mm and .22. If you ever have some extra dough laying around, consider getting a .22 upper for your 1911.

Nice collection you got there.

I'm going to have to look into these rubber bullets. Never heard of them.

Plastic Training Components

Do you want to get a little handgun practice at times you can't get to the range? Don't have a heavy-duty backstop in the garage? SPEER Plastic Training Components are the prescription you need for short-range practice. This isn't loaded ammo. We make the bullets and cases--you supply the power. A standard large pistol primer provides all the power needed to propel the reusable bullets at velocities between 300 and 400 ft/sec. Cases are reusable, too. You don't even need reloading equipment to assemble Speer practice ammo. The case/bullet system is available for 38/357 and 44 caliber revolvers. For the 45 Auto, use our bullet and a standard 45 Auto brass case with a drilled-out flash hole. A backstop for these bullets can be quickly built from a cardboard box and carpet scraps.

Bullets and cases are sold separately so you can replace lost or damaged bullets.

SAFETY FIRST: Never use propellant when loading Plastic Training components. Treat the resulting ammunition with the same respect given conventional ammunition; velocity is high enough to injure the skin. Use only in well-ventilated areas. Brush the bore every 12-18 shots to prevent accumulation of primer residue.

I don't really understand why I should restrict myself that much. I'm of the more is merrier persuasion. I like .380s for their pocketability, have a real use for one. I LOVE shooting the versatile rimfire, pure pleasure. I have six of the things in revolver and auto and a Contender barrel for my squirrel hunting activities. I own handguns in .22, .380, .38, .357, 9mm, .45ACP, .45 Colt, 7mm TCU, and .30-30 Winchester. I haven't added a .40 due to redundancy, but hey, I already HAVE a good variety. :D I want MORE guns, not less. I don't care if they're safe queens/range queens. I like 'em.

I have maybe five guns that I can call "working guns". One's a .22 NAA mini that's always with me. One's a .38 Taurus snubbie I keep bedside and carry often, it's in it's IWB rig now. I have a 9mm Kel Tec P11 that rides IWB often in lieu of the revolver, and I have a .380 Grendel P12 that is my pocket carry.

Now I have several outdoor guns, but could make due, I guess with just my .45 Colt. But, I have this little .38 Rossi 3" that's super accurate and a Rossi .22 sportsman that is efficient at killing rabbits. I have a .357 Taurus M66 that's a great outdoor gun if I don't want the weight of the Blackhawk on the belt. I mean, I have a bunch more, but I could live with five guns I guess, if I absolutely HAD to. But, so long as I have a constitutional right to buy more, I'll continue as I can afford.

At this point, I'm more into bargain guns that are of some quality and collectibility, like all the used Smith K frames around now. I'm thinking investment in cold steel. Hey, it might not make money, but if I can get a deal here and there on a nice Model 10, model 13, or something, why not? I know I can get my money back if I need it. I'd rather have steel to play with than the hundred dollar bills it represents, well, if I have the disposable income I mean. I ain't going to spend what I don't have, of course, but why put it in a savings account at 2%? I could be enjoying my investment!:D My nest egg has been built and now it's time to have happier investments.

"I don't really understand why I should restrict myself that much."

You shouldn't!
I didn't start this as any kind of "my way is best" thread. I was just playing around with the camera and now that I have my collection pretty much where I wanted (pending shipping of the .380 I sold and swapping out the 37 for the 342), I just felt like snapping a pic and sharing.

As far as I'm concerned there are few things as personal as a gun selection/collection. I've almost completely abstained from the "which gun is best for me?" threads because I end up reading a list of guns that ALL work for the person who suggested them but only the person pulling the trigger can or should choose for themselves. I hope you buy tons of guns and keep buying them. I wish you fun and safety with all of them. And thanks! people like you help keep the industry healthy!;)

And by the way, I never said I was done adding guns to my collection, only that I'm (probably) done adding anything that isn't a J, K or 1911!...and I'm with you on the lookout for good deals on old steel!

VERY NICE GROUP, JIM.

Though not a HUGE fan of wheelies, I am proud of the few I own. I'm more into the older, oddball .22rf guns, no matter what type action. My wheelies include an old Smith 66 stainless in .357mag with a 6" bbl. (my bedside table grabber); a beautiful little '50s era Colt Detective Special in .38sp (wife's personal carry); NIB Colt SAA .22rf Frontier Scout cased Indiana Sesquicennial without even a cylinder stop mark (I'm a Hoosier); and a little antique IJ "Owl Head" nickeled 5-shot .32S&W, with a bobbed nose and hammer for easier carrier. Just bought that one 'cause it was "cute."

Entire collection runs 4.25mm Liliput; 22rf; 32acp; 380acp; .45acp; 9mmPara; 7.63mm Mauser; one lonely 12ga; and the calibers mentioned above. LOVE 'EM ALL!

It's all good stuff. I like revolver shooting mostly, but have a few bottom feeders thrown in here and there.

I still want some type of 9mm. I'll wait and see what the new single stack Kel-Tec looks like when it comes out.
