Shooting running deer is unethical in my opinion.
I have a video of a doe that has its left hanging by its tendon that was shot from a running shot that will not down load.
Will it live?
Yes.
But the ass wipe what shot it should have his left leg shot and what's left be hung on by a tendon.
I can find you plenty of examples of bad shooting on stationary deer. Does that make shooting stationary deer unethical? I mean, some of those standing still broadside shots are tough, right? Let's just avoid them all together, huh?
There are more fun examples where no deer were hurt, totally unethical shots, every one, especially the follow-ups.
And this guy says "Hold my beer" and went for 5! His spotter is pretty pathetic as well.
Now, this was a harder couple of shots. The deer wasn't completely broadside, and it was slow stepping as it fed, increasing the skill level needed, minimally, to make that shot. First shot killed a rabbit behind the deer. The 2nd shot was equally bad, but fortunately there were no rabbits behind the deer anymore.
Now, if you are a hunter like Franz Albrecht, running shots are a no brainer. Of course, he is a boar hunter, but fully has the skills and experience to make such shots.
Bottom line, whether or not the shot is ethical has more to do with the hunter's abilities than what the animal is doing. It may be an unethical shot for you and for most people, but the shot itself isn't unethical if the hunter has the skills.
