I've just received a pair of amboine stocks for my model 1911 from Hakan Pek. He's a Norwegian stock maker whose work I first encountered here at the high road. The stocks fit just fine, and the wood is gorgeous, and finished in tung oil, too. I don't know what his normal turn around time is, since he happened to have these stocks on hand. Worth the $65 cost? Definitely!

I have no idea where amboine wood is from or anything else about it, but it's mighty pretty stuff.

As soon as I get finances in order (Damned IRS!) I want a pair with the Shadow treatment.

Another view of the same stocks (and yes, that's pasta in the background.)

I ordered a set for my CZ 85 combat on Feb. 28th and haven't received them yet (Apr 20.) He told me up front that he is very backed up. Since I had the pleasure of seeing and more importantly handling his grips first hand, it will be well worth the wait.

Very nice wood. There is nothing finer than some striking wood on a finly blued firearm.

I have a set of Kim Ahrends' Ambonya Burl on my Les Baer. There is a bit of glare in the photo but you can get the gist of it.

I just got my Hakan's in today (April 28.) They feel great and look beautiful. Hakan grips are a must for CZ owners period! ;)
