Price check: Butchered 3 screw blackhawk (.45 LC)

A bit of explanation is in order here... About thirteen years ago both my parents were into fast draw competition. Luckily, my dad was a traditionalist, and left handed as well so I ended up with his old model Vaquero and rig. Unfortunately my mother was a little insane in her competitive spirit, and had her three screw blackhawk reworked for fast draw. Basically what I see is a poor 3 screw with no sights and a nice rig. In my world, the value would be only slightly higher than that of the rig, but does anyone know if there is a market for these things? She is looking to sell, and I have no idea if there is a market for them.

FWIW, it isn't exactly bubba quality. It was apparently done by some big time fast draw smith. I will get pictures up as soon as I can.

I'll head over to their place and snap a few after the kids eat.

A few crappy cell phone pictures.

Thanks Fuff! I'll poke around over there and see what I can do. Here is the rig I got from my dad... First chance I get I'll download the good pics of it along with the pics of her rig.

I was just wondering what it would be like to have a Mom into quick draw competition!

I don't know.

But I sure wouldn't want her to slap my hand for stealing cookies!

BTW:

I had a good friend who was real heavy into quick-draw competition years ago.

More recently, he was trying to sell me his guns.

How about Ruger Blackhawk flat-tops with no sights, fanning hammers, and aluminum barrels & cylinders??
He "misplaced" the original steel barrels & cylinders so they couldn't be converted back without spending more then they would ever be worth!

Lets say Sales didn't go so well!

I wouldn't expect you'd find many buyers for these specialized and highly modified revolvers in the general used gun market, but within the ranks of what's left of the Fast Draw movement they're may be some takers. Ya' got to go where the interest (and money) is. ;)

Here are a few pictures from one of their first shoots in 1998 or 99, before they got into it big time. The rig she is selling with it is different, it is a tan colored leather.

.45Guy,
Thanks for sharing the photos of your mom's gun and of your folks at one of their first shoots.
Those photos and the gun would make a great family heirloom. I'd be asking for a "good son" discount and locking'em up in my safe.:)
Regards,
Greg

Me too. I have my moms RG22 that I just cant seem to part with. When she bought it she said something like its plenty loud enough to scare anyone away. I think she only fired twice.... maybe only once. Bought about 35 yrs ago.

I shoot it a few times here and there. Its only had maybe 200 rounds through it at the very most and feels like its already worn out.

I already got the "good son discount" on my dad's rig... He wanted a new summer carry piece, and I obliged. The blackhawk has the steel barrel on it at present, but still isn't my thing. Cash isn't exactly something I have in abundance, and that is what mom wants. And what mom wants, mom gets...
