I am looking for a new revolver. I want a Colt. Plain and simple, right? Wrong.
There are only two gun shops in Huntsville and you cant expect to get a deal at either of them. One has a Python in stainless 4" but is wanting $900 for it used. They also have several lawmen and detective specials that are beat all to hell.
The other shop has a perfect King Cobra in the georgous Blued finish but is wanting $599 for it.
Is it just me or do both of these prices seem WAAY to high? I mean...come on, I can get a NEW python from Colt for a little over a grand. Why would I pay $900 for a used one that isnt even blue?
Are these too high or am I expecting too much?

Your area makes the call--

Every place is different--
BUT

In the Midwest it is WAY TOO HIGH--

The King Cobra is about double its worth--
The Python is up at least 1 and 1/2 times--

$600 for the Python and $300 for the K-Cobra would be about right--

A nice stainless 4" Python could easily bring $800 here. A 6" blue one $700.

FWIW, I just looked the 4" up in the Blue Book - 98% = $775 and
100% = $925.

It seems like colt prices have gone crazy, what you quoted is about what I am seeing around seattle. A few years ago the king cobra was a very inexpensive revolver, as were detective specials, people seem willing to pay it so I don't see them going down much....tom

I went to the gun show last week. Colt's are real big now. Alot of people are buying them up. Pythons were going for $750 and King Cobra were around $550.
For a good idea on prices try www.gunsamerica.com
It will put you in the ball park.
