Local gun shop has a wasr 10 for $429.
comes with:
2- 30 rd mags
bayonet (still has the lug)
muzzle brake
sling

What is the going rate for this rifle? Is this a good deal or should I keep shopping? I know everyone has probably heard this way more than they care to but I would appreciate the help.

got mine with the same setup for $329. one of the mags was a POS that misfeeds but i see those WASRs as a great deal that everyone should take advantage of.

As others have said already.....Sounds a bit on the high side. Still with 2 mags and a muzzlebrake its not a horrible deal.

I seem to recall J&G was selling these a while back new for around the mid $300's.

That's not a bad price. I paid $300 for mine on sale like 3 yrs ago. They have to go up sometime.

Yeh, but after you get it transfered to a local FFL dealer, pay for shipping, and come to find out it looks like unholy heck, grand total comes to 400-425. If the gun looks in great shape, the actions cycles smoothly (as smooth as you would expect from a WASR) by all means not too bad. You might be able to find one around $379-389 in just as good of shape. Just don't go far, gas is expensive too. It is always better to look at the product you are buying before commiting to it.

Paid $380 for mine about a year ago, came with same.. CHECK FOR CANT on the front sight... SERIOUSLY!!!! I'd also check to make sure the front post will adjust, mine took quite a bit of ghetto-smithing to get moving. (see blow-torch and rubber mallet)

That is the advantage of buying these in person, you aren't sure what you are going to get if you order it online. Also prices on all AK's have been going up. Also if you have any smithy skills a saiga isn't a bad way to go, they are a lot cleaner than the romys and will cost about the same for the gun + everything needed to convert.

I got mine late last year, no bayonet, 2 30 shot mags, for $329.

I noticed the price was higher next time I visited the gunstore, $379 I believe.

I hand inspected mine for cant as well. I've heard a lot of bad things about the WASR, however after owning the "cheapest" AK, and looking at more expensive models, not any better or worse made than the more expensive ones. Only major difference I see is the WASR-10 isn't quite as well finished(colorwise/parkerizing), and that the stock was unfinished!

Also, they all have some mag wobble, dimples or not.

My business partner was wanting one after shooting mine, and they were sold out. Said no more available from his distributer, and would have a slightly more expensive model available in a month or so.

Thanks for the input guys. I decided last night I was going to go in and fondle it one more time, I did that this morning and talked the price down to $400 so I'm buying it. Every little bit helps right. Unfortunately I'm poor-ish at the moment so I'm on a payment plan but it shouldn't be too long before its mine.
