Price for Winchester 94, 30-30?

I haven't seen it yet, but the guy wants $200 and said it was made in 1972, the stock is a little dinged up with a mark on stock, no rust, and shot very little.

Should I grab it?
What else should I look for and consider?

This would be my first Lever Action

That's probably in the money for a post-1964, good shooter, the only thing better (and only in about 50% of people's opinions) is the Marlin 336, but you'll probably have a hard time finding either in reasonable condition for under 250. I'd have to jump on it personally, you could always sell it for that later if you want.

I'd say YES! It's real hard to find any 94's for less than $250, especally the older top ejecters.

That's a good deal. See if he'll take a cash offer, it may knock that price down.
I have 2 of these, and I prefer my late 60's version to my '05. There's less play in the action and it levers a little more smoothly.
These are great "do-it-all" guns that shoulder quickly and handle well. They can also be quite accurate and are generally not thought of that way, at least by the guys who use off the shelf ammo  . A handloader can really make a 94 sing.
Buy it, and good luck!

Yes, not bad. Regardless of the 'post-64' stuff, a winchester 94 made 30 years ago is far better than the crappy 94s made in the last few years of production.

FWIW, I bought a win 94 of roughly the same vintage 5 or 6 years ago from a private party for $100, I ended up selling it back to him a couple of years later for the same price, as he missed it and I didn't hve much use for it.

I'd take it. Everyone here is going to laugh it up, but I spent $500 for a brand new 94 in .357 trapper, a few months back. Way too over priced considering a year ago I could get one for $299 at big 5, but it was the last brand new one here in NV. If I were to buy one now, I would jump at $200.

I've got a 1973 model 94 (bought new for me when I was 16) and it's a fine weapon, well fitted, smooth, finely blued and with nice wood. It's also an excellent shooter. For $200 I'd snap it up.

Around here there no cheaper then $300+, I know alot of people including me who would jump all over that deal.

Grab it! Post 64 changes aside, I would MUCH rather have a real Winchester from the 70's than a USRAC from later on. Can't stand the angle eject and @#$# lawyer safety.

If you don't grab it, give me the directions and address and I will come and get it. :)

My Winny can always use a younger brother. :D
