Powder Valley sells a variety of powders which are discussed in the context of this Blackpowder shooting forum.
Pyrodex and 777 aren't nitro powders?
I've posted about Powder Valley's low sub. powder prices before.
Some folks reload for & shoot multiple guns across the entire spectrum of the THR forum including inlines, with 777, and also with the new Blackhorn 209 powder for which they're among the lowest priced.
And they load cartridges for conversion cylinders with powders other than black powder too.
But you already knew that, as well as the fact that not everyone on this board loads using black powder.
I guess that folks should try to maximize whatever hazmat fees they are paying to the fullest extent possible.
hmmmm...I guess if you lived in a locality that prohibited BP or you couldn't buy it locally, etc.
I'm actually familiar with Triple Seven, Black Mag3, Clear Shot, APP, Pinnacle and Pyrodex. As you also know some of those aren't available anymore. Over the years I've tried the last four. My impression is that it was sort of like kissing your sister...
Yeah, yeah I know they may have some charcoal or another carbon based fuel like a carborized sugar. Some even have traces of sulfur and potassium nitrate in them, or in the case of Pyrodex it is a desensitized "BP."
What amazes me we will spend days talking about the best lubricants for BP, or whether or not BP is compatible with different petroleum products and someone doesn't even blink when we just shift gears in the middle of a discussion and you could be talking about almost anything and not true BP.
In fact several of the afore mentioned powders actually behave more like smokeless powders when it comes to cleaning and and lubrication requirements. And here we sit talking about things more specific to the actual holy black.
I was just disappointed, the reason I know they (Powder Valley) didn't sell BP is that I went and looked hoping they did. Because BP along with caps with a single hazmat fee would actually be useful.
