I see that Wideners has unfired Lake City Pulldown .308 brass that is unfired for sale for $34.99 per 100. http://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/product/productId/26972 Apparently, all that's needed is to neck size the brass, since it retains its sizing from the factory.

The next cheapest brass is primed Federal .308 brass for $38.99 per 100.

Besides the additional hassle of removing the military crimp on the Lake City, are there any pros and cons to using LC versus other brands of brass? I'm aware of the difference in thickness between military and commercial brass. It seems like thicker brass is a plus?

Thanks,

-John

If this brass is machine gun brass, it's going to be tough the first time through the resizing die.

Use plenty of lube.

Sorry if I didn't make it clear earlier, but it looks like this brass is unfired. This is from live ammo that had the bullet pulled, and the powder dumped. Apparently, all that's needed is a quick neck sizing.

Thanks,

I bought 5000 of these when Wideners first offered it last year (prior to all the craziness).

I got them delivered for 25 cents apiece buying 5K at a time.

It's good brass but it does have the black sealant in the inside the neck that the military contractors use.

I don't mess with removing the sealant, I just neck size and shoot.

You can expect about 3 percent to be unuseable due to damaged necks reference machine pulling of the bullets.

It shoots fine:

5 shots from my Ruger GSR @ 100 yards 43 grains of AA2520 and pulled 147 Grain MIL Projectiles.

Thanks, ATC. Great post!

It looks like the brass is of high quality.
