Pro gun bumper stickers and CCW

I don't even have a "Support Our Troops" sticker and my best friend just left for Iraq

Those stickers have nothing to do with supporting the troops and everything to do with supporting the company in China that makes them.

I live in MA and have SIG Sauer, Glock,NRA and local rod and gun club stickers on my SUV;it screams "gunnie" or " gun poser".They're alongside Free Tibet, Reduce-Recycle-Reuse and THINK,it's American stickers.I've never had any issue with an LEO picking me out to pick on but then again, there is barely a city, county or state cop within 15 miles that I haven't shot with before.

They know no one is MA has any guns. :neener:

My viewpoint is that anything indicating there are guns IN THE CAR is a bad idea, like "Protected by S&W", etc. I don't see any problem at all with expressing 2A support on your vehicle though, I wish more would do it. If we hide what we believe as if it is on the fringe or in the extreme then we are creating a self fullfilling prophecy.

Unless they are pro 2A most will not know what "Molon labe" means anyway.

I also don't have political stickers on it . . . last election cycle, people with "W" stickers were having their vehicles vandalized. (People of the "liberal" political persuasion - at least the extreme left - often have no respect for private property.)

I hear you--between me and my GF our trucks got egged 4 times in about a month (Oct/Nov 04  ). Both had W stickers on them. Coincidence? Hmmm...

She also overheard some a-holes saying how they'd like to bust the back window of "that truck with the W sticker". She told them what a bad idea that would be. They obviously didn't notice her personalised license plate referring to a certain Hi-Cap Para 45acp...

Round NRA stickie, probably no problem. To a lot of people, it looks like the USMC stickie.

"Keep Honking--I'm Reloading" or the equivalent...nah, probably not.

The battle that that phrase came from has been made into a movie (looked like one of those made in the '60s or '70s). I just happend to be channel surfing along about a month or so ago and saw the title of the movie which made me think of the phrase (the title escapes me now, it may have been Thermopylae or something similar).
Was it The 300 Spartans with Richard Egan? It was made in 1962.

Bumper Stickers

My wife’s Suburban has one sticker that says,” Insured by Glock" and a second that says,” Guns cause crime, like fly’s cause garbage." My Truck has a NRA sticker, "Insured by Glock", and one that says, "When the police can't help you, the second amendment can." I've never been harassed or had any negative attention because of them. It's pretty funny to see people’s reaction when they read them at a stoplight. :) :D

I live in an anti-gun area and have NRA and www.marylandshallissue.org bumper stickers on my SUV. The only thing I notice is the 'bumper riders' back off after getting close. I've offered NRA stickers to my relatives.
Perhaps I should get a 'Don't Honk I'm reloading' bumber sticker to go along with the others.

This topic has been discussed before and both the pro and anti have their points.

Never been stopped by a LEO and hassled for the freedom display and that's in MD and DC.

If I owned any guns I might be worried about theft.

Last year the Glock and Springfield Armory stickers came off my truck...they were pretty much beat anyway. I haven't replaced them, my thinking has been to keep it "grey" in the future. I usually keep a rifle behind the seat of the truck, so advertising would seem to invite the casual thief. My "762" plate stays, though...slightly ambiguous...

I just don't put anything on my black F150 at all...other than a couple coats of wax. -FNR.

If I am ever see a black F-150 with plates refering to 7.62 in The Carolinas I know where to get a free rifle :neener: . That is why I dont post personal info.

I have an NRA sticker on the truck... and will put more on when I feel like it, but only because I don't store guns in there.

My long distance car (Audi A6 at the moment) has no stickers at all because occaisionally I will store a gun in there and I don't want the additional break-in risk.

I've had a few "got sig" stickers - one day I put one of them on my car - four hours later I took it off.

Why? Several reasons. Primarily, I don't want to advertise that I might have a gun, either with me or at home. Other reasons: I've never quite understood why my car should advertise my opinions on anything. When I buy a new car I insist that the dealer remove their dealer sticker before I take position. (One time I offered to leave it on the car for an advertising fee of $1000 a year - he didn't seem to appreciate the offer)

In person, as another has commented, I'll talk guns 'til the cows come home, IF the individual I'm speaking to is interested.

Once I got my CCW, I ditched the pro gun bumper stickers. I figured that anytime I parked near a no carry zone (Michigan) someone might get the idea my car has a handgun secured in it.

I love bumper stickers but don't put them on my car - hate cluttering it up. Just have a State Police Association sticker in the rear window.

If you really want to screw with people's heads put something more acceptable on there like a Million Moms March bumper sticker but have the background in Camouflage. Camouflage is somewhat neutral if done in the correct way. I have never been a fan of those bumper stickers that warn of bodily harm when an individual encroaches on personal space. I like subtle stickers such as an insurance company called Smith and Wesson. As of right now I only have one sticker on my vehicle which will be coming off when I move to Denver, CO. It shows an FN FAL and an AR-15 with the words "EVIL black rifle club, OFFICIAL MEMBER."

i got hassled a lot

for the "don't laugh it might be your daughter" sticker on my vw camper. but just by one cop. and he ended up my father in law

I have a "waving flag" sticker and a Cadussa on my truck. I call the "this truck protected by smith and wesson" stickers "steal me stickers" I've got nothing to worry about from the LEO's but don't want to advertise to the cannibals.

I would no sooner stick something on my car than I would the side of my house. I don't even wear hats or T-shirts that have political or controversial writing on them. I keep a low profile, I'd rather keep 'em guessing. When I want my voice to be heard, I vote.

I also prefer not to have such stickers on my car so as to not draw attention to myself.

With that said, I pulled up behind a guy with a "Got Milk?" spoof bumper stick that said "Got Ammo?"

I was on the way to the range and had a freezer bag of ammo. I honked at the guy while behind him at a light to get his attention. When he looked in the mirror, I held up the bag of ammo. At first he seemed mad at me honking at him until he realized what was in the bag and then just started laughing.

It turned out to be a good day at the range and a fun start of the day.

I have exactly one, and this is the only one I have ever had...a Euro-styled oval 1911 sticker on the back bumper of my SUV (like those OBX or EUR or IRL stickers)...that's it. I doubt 99% of people even get it or notice it doesn't say CAN or FRA...hell, most folks don't even notice when I open carry. I too like to keep a low profile, but I think it can be taken to extremes sometimes...not that it's harmful to go that far, but I won't be defined by the dangers of this world and go into hiding because of them, it's just not my nature.

Now, I don’t talk about guns with very many people, but you know, the criminals that steal guns, they’re not that stupid. If they want to know who has the guns in town, they park their cars in the parking lot of the local Gander Mountain or other firearms shop and wait for the person with the gun box to come out.

I’ve never heard of someone being profiled for being a victim of gun theft at a stop light. Sure, someone could see your car on the street with the NRA bumper sticker and go in and rob you, but again, thieves are more likely to rob a gun store after hours than your home for firearms unless they already know what you have and it’s what they want. A criminal that is solely looking for firearms is not going to waste his time running into every house that has a truck with an NRA sticker on it, too high of a likelihood that the house is full of scoped Remingtons and lever action guns that have little to no value on the street in high crime areas. Chances are, most homes would have very few guns that criminals actually use or can liquidate quickly on the back alley market other than shotguns.

With a gun store, well, they get to choose what they’ll take beforehand, which is how they get in and out so quickly…it’s called “casing”. You’re more likely to have your home cased because of the amount of cash you have or carry or your profession (jewler, art collector/dealer, whatever) and your car. Your vehicle is more likely to be cased for what kind of audio/video equipment it has in it or if the model is popular with car thieves.
