I have exactly one, and this is the only one I have ever had...a Euro-styled oval 1911 sticker on the back bumper of my SUV (like those OBX or EUR or IRL stickers)...that's it. I doubt 99% of people even get it or notice it doesn't say CAN or FRA...hell, most folks don't even notice when I open carry. I too like to keep a low profile, but I think it can be taken to extremes sometimes...not that it's harmful to go that far, but I won't be defined by the dangers of this world and go into hiding because of them, it's just not my nature.
Now, I don’t talk about guns with very many people, but you know, the criminals that steal guns, they’re not that stupid. If they want to know who has the guns in town, they park their cars in the parking lot of the local Gander Mountain or other firearms shop and wait for the person with the gun box to come out.
I’ve never heard of someone being profiled for being a victim of gun theft at a stop light. Sure, someone could see your car on the street with the NRA bumper sticker and go in and rob you, but again, thieves are more likely to rob a gun store after hours than your home for firearms unless they already know what you have and it’s what they want. A criminal that is solely looking for firearms is not going to waste his time running into every house that has a truck with an NRA sticker on it, too high of a likelihood that the house is full of scoped Remingtons and lever action guns that have little to no value on the street in high crime areas. Chances are, most homes would have very few guns that criminals actually use or can liquidate quickly on the back alley market other than shotguns.
With a gun store, well, they get to choose what they’ll take beforehand, which is how they get in and out so quickly…it’s called “casing”. You’re more likely to have your home cased because of the amount of cash you have or carry or your profession (jewler, art collector/dealer, whatever) and your car. Your vehicle is more likely to be cased for what kind of audio/video equipment it has in it or if the model is popular with car thieves.
