So, a month or three ago, I sent off my paperwork to apply for the Florida concealed weapon license. Then, a few weeks ago, I got a notice from the FL Department of Ag & Consumer Services saying that my application was incomplete, because my training certificate (NRA Basic Pistol) didn't have the instructors license number on it.
I've been busy, so I just got around to calling the place I got my certificate at about it. They were a little confused, but agreeable. Their confusion got me thinking... I havn't heard anything else about this. The standard basic pistol certificate doesn't have anywhere for the ID number.
The ID number thing isn't listed in the statutes. Rather, the instructor has to maintain lists indicating that I have indeed passed his course.
Has anyone else encountered this? Can I just call up the people in Florida to complain and they'll let it go, or do I really need to get the instructor to crank out another copy of my certificate and hand write his ID number on it?

You really need to get the instructor to write in his ID number. I am a NRA Instructor and do write in my number on all my certs.

Don't call Fl to complain, call the NRA training dept and tell them to modify the certs or tell instructors to write in ID numbers.

Ok, I didn't really want to give the Florida guys a hard time, anyways. Asking for the number is reasonable, after all. (in so far as anything about needing a permit is reasonable, anyways.)

Should I get the instructor to initial by the number, since it is after the fact?

I got mine w/o any number using the basic pistol class certificate.

In fact the certificate was 10+ years old and apparently still met the criteria.

As a side note, I just took the class again - worthwhile refresher.
