Problem de-priming on RCBS Pro 2000

I recently started to reload on an RCBS Pro 2000 auto indexing progressive. I am having problems with the de-priming with my sizing die on station one. Tried moving pin in and out, but cannot seem to find the sweet spot. Runs three or four, then it won't completely clear the old primer and it hangs up on station two.

Anyone with similar problem. Anyone with a solution?

You might try a Pow'r Punch Decapping Rod.

What caliber and brand of sizer are you having trouble with? I haven't run into such a problem yet.

Is this an old die that worked fine before you put it on a progressive press or is it a new die? If it's a new die, try dulling the point on the decapping pin and see if that helps. If it's an old die, I got nothing.

Had this same issue when I first got my pro2000 & a new set of rcbs dies for .223
Tried polishing the decaping pin, helped a little. Turns out it was the primers on the 223's. It was mostly military crimped but with some commercial mixed in (cheap range brass)
It would decap it but would stick to the pin. As I would seat a primer, the old one would partially seat back into the sized brass. Then when it tried to advance to the next station it would hang up

I second the pow'r punch recommendation. I used to have trouble with small primers on 9mm brass, and the pow'r punch solved it. I liked it so much, most of my decapping dies now have one installed.

I third the spring loaded decapping pin. I had that problem really bad with all my pistol brass. I bought the RCBS heavy duty universal decapping die that was good up to 45-70 cases.

I haven't had a problem since. In your case GW Staar has the right answer.

Just a thought, the only time I had that happen was because the spent primer tube was fouled and not letting the spent primers go down it fast enough. I would guess, if not that, it is the decapping pin.

Like J2FLAN said, look for obstructions in the primer tube first. Particularly since it seems like you're just starting on it. Possibly packing material or something similar in the tube.
