I just bought a Tikka T-3 Lite (.270 win) and placed a Burris C4 (3-9x40)scope on it using the rings that came w/ the Tikka. Setting the scope as far back as it will go in the rings is still about an inch short of where the scope should be for eye relief at 9X. I need the scope to set back at least an inch further to preserve my most natural shooting position when I bring the rifle up to my shoulder. As it is now I have to crane my neck forward to get the full view in the scope. Is there a base I can use that would accept the Tikka rings and allow the scope to sit farther back? Or, perhaps, is there a 1 piece base like a DNZ that would allow the scope to sit back? Any all suggestions are muchly appreciated.

Lay down on the floor and assume a prone shooting position.

How is the eye relief then??

If it's good, that's where the scope needs to be.

Otherwise, if it's further back and perfect in a standing position??

You will sooner or later have a nice crescent shaped scar in your right eyebrow when you shoot it from an awkward position hunting someday.

Better to have to lean into it standing then have it cut you shooting uphill, or setting, or prone.
It takes a long time to get over the flenching from getting hit in the eye & cut with a scope!!!

BTDT!!

i have the same problem with my ruger# one,s, the ring bases are to close together. its not to much of a problem if you have time to crawl foreward to see the whole field of view for your shot, but a PITA in the field while trying to take a quick shot. i found a older redfield 1 3/4-5 x scope that works. i will end up paying $$$ for ruger extenstion rings in the near future. eastbank.

The top of the receiver on my T3 Lite came taped with plug screws installed. hdbiker

The scope on the rifle pictured would be way too far back for me. I'm with RC you want to be able to crawl up a little bit on the school in a hunting situation.
