Greetings,

I bought a M48 bent bolt from Samco Global. The rifle was very nice. I dissassembled it, cleaned it and reassembled it. I did the same with the bolt. It is my 4th mauser bolt type that I do that.

Here is my problem: I did not fire that gun yet. The bolt was hard to open and working it a few times, the bolt is now impossible to open. It is entirely closed and the bolt handle moves about 3/4 inch and it gets stuck.

Anyone can give me any clue how to fix that?

Thank you

I can't figure out your problem without some pictures. Show what is going on around the cocking piece and the shroud.

I hope that the firing pin is attached to the cocking piece. If you installed a M98 firing pin, under spring tension, and the rear is not attached to a cocking piece, the front lugs of the firing pin are not going to let you open that bolt.

That fix will be fun, fun, frustrating.

Greetings,

Here are some pictures I took. I put more than less, so you can see some more details on some pictures. I really hope there is a solution. I got lucky. That rifle was like new. I could not get a good focus on almost every picture. If you need more details, I'll go outside tomorrow and take pictures in the sun. The focus will be perfect.

I cant really tell...
but here is what I would do. Take the floor plate, spring and follower out. Remove the ejector from the side.

Make sure the safety lever is all the way down (To the left). Some models have a slot cut in the cocking piece to enable the safety to be engaged on a de-cocked bolt.

You may also, (Assuming the gun is not loaded), pull the trigger and hold it back as you try to open the bolt.

If this doesnt work, you may need to manually cock the gun, and put it on safety and try to remove it then.

Greetings,

I got it! Manually cocking the bolt, putting the safe 12 o'clock and off and I was able to work the bolt....3-4 times then it stucks again.

Just cocking and firing does not unstuck the bolt. I need to put the safe 12 o'clock or on to be able to work the bolt. I did that 6 times and each time the bolt does not work more than 2-3 times before it gets stuck again. Once it got stuck on the first try after I worked it once.

I switched the bolt with another mauser I have and the other bolt is working perfectly. So, the problem is the bolt.

What may be the cause?

Thank you

Greetings,

Breaking news!!!

I dissassembled the bolt, cleaned again, applied break free generously, polished the rear "lug" becasue I saw a few lines in the metal, applied generously 10W30 motor oil, reassembled the bolt and it now seems to work. I was able to operate the bolt 50 times in a row with no locked up.

Thank you
