I've owned this Browning Buckmark for many years, and have always been impressed with the accuracy and ease of use of this very inexpensive gun. But recently I have a problem with the slide being very stiff, meaning I barely have the strength to pull it back to chamber a round and cock the hammer. I've disassembled and clearned and lubricated the slide, checked the spring, etc. and everything seems fine but then when fully put back together, it is still very difficult to pull back. Any thoughts?

Is it because the spring is hard to overcome, or is it rubbing somewhere? Take it apart, then put the slide back without the spring and see if the slide moves freely.

Also pay attention how the plastic "cam/retainer" at the front of the spring moves inside the sight base channel. Can it be rubbing in there The sight base might have become deformed over the years.

Another thing to look for is the hammer assembly, is it moving freely?

Just a few things to look for.

I had the same problem, the top rail was rubbing on the slide. I guess I got a bit carried away when I tightened the back rail screw down. Decided to put a little locktite and tighten it snug, not like there is no tomorrow. Just something to look into as well
