Help needed, Have an Fn Buckmark 22lr Tgt pistol, which is very difficult to cock when using 1st time.Once it is cocked it operates perfectly all the time.If the trigger is pulled on an empty chamber however, you are back to almost needing a pickup truck to pull the slide back again.Anyone else ever had this problem & knows the cure ?

New or used? Have you removed the slide to grease the rails? With the slide off, can you push the hammer down easily or is it just as hard?

Are you trying to cock it with a full magazine or no magazine? Does it make a difference?

A little more information is needed please.

Your cocking the internal hammer, when its difficult to cycle the slide. When the pistol fires, the recoil cocks the hammer. Its simply the way things work. Is this your first pistol?

Weblance, I guess I should have started with that basic question as well.

Ditto on having to cock the gun when pulling the slide after dry firing. It is very hard to do. I noticed that on the Buck Mark I bought last night. It was obvious. BTW if you remove the mag the slide will still pull back easily and it will cock the gun. You just stick the mag back in and release the slide and you're ready to go. And for the record dry firing a rimfire isn't usually a good idea. I only did it because I was testing to make sure the trigger worked. I did it once and I won't be doing it again.

I looked at the CTD web site and they said they had actual Browning mags for it. I wouldn't buy anything from those guys anyway but I wanted to check to see their price. They were like over $10 cheaper per mag than everyone else. Knowing that outfit there's probably a hook in there somewhere.

CDNN has buckmark magazines for $20 right now but CTD/CDNN probably doesn't make a difference to someone in the Guernsey Channel Islands.
