Revolver is a 9 shot and 98% of the time only 7 will fire. Any Clues wore out maybe or weak spring???

I'm not sure but I think the hammer spring has a plastic cup on it that breaks with age and effectively reduces the strength of the spring. Parts are still available for these guns and someone with more expertise will be along shortly to help you figure it out.

High standard mainspring trigger assembly repair

Hello, Just like the harrington&Richardson 22 revolvers ,high standard has a plastic head that get's brittle and crumbles with age.Go to numerick gun parts and click on high standard-104 and order a new mainspring assembly. It's a peice of cake to replace.First remove the grip screw. The new plastic head of the mainspring you will order the longer piece goes upward when it's in place.Pull the metal pin out when it's in position, that let's the spring expand.Make sure it's in place first. The old on should almost fall out.P.S.Get a good look at the old part in place first, while it's in the gun handle. This should solve your problem, this is very common.Happy shooting the FlyingTiger!
