So i bought an AK from my local gunshop. mk99 ITM arms co., lancaster (goodyear, az.) are the markings on the reciever. This thing refuses to chamber a round after a shot. I cant tell if its the mags or the rifle. Ive tried 4 different mags including one polymer. Still is being touchy. I dont like have nonfunctional weapons taking up space in my safe. any suggestions, anyone else had this problem?

Not familiar with the issue you describe, but I do know that there were a LOT of quality control issues with lancaster, and that their customer service in responding to the issues was less than stellar or even acceptable. this was roughly a year ago. I'm not aware of whether or not their situation has improved since that time

So it will load rounds when you manually cycle it, but when fired it won't cycle and chamber another round?

Can you tell us more about what is happening with it? Is it cycling and failing to pick up a round? Partially chambering it? Something else?

pretty much all of the above. Even when manually cycling rounds they dont chamber every time. at most i got off 2 or 3 rounds before have to manually cycle. a few times the round would get partially chambered. It seems like the mags are not getting fully seating in the well. the one time i got 5 rounds off consecutively I had to actually push the mag upwards in the well to make sure the rounds would get chambered.

Sounds like the mag catch is too low or perhaps bent and not holding the back of the mag up where it should be. That is not a completely unknown problem. I would absolutely take this up with the dealer and see if they can get the manufacturer to fix the problem.

If you rest the gun on a bench on the bottom of the magazine so it holds the mag as far as possible up into the gun, will it run correctly?

whats a better quality ak? thinkin about takin it to the dealer and trading it for a better one.

Well on my recently purchased AK it was "new" i.e. old but no fired and part of the upper receiver cover was rubbing at one spot on the charging handle which "snagged" the handle and occasionally did not let it fully ride forward which caused a misfire from partially seated rounds. So popped it off gave it a file, a quick sand and paint and no problems.
