Hello;

I'm trying to make up my mind. I need a small to middling size auto for ccw in the summer, and can't find any one local with either to shoot. I've fired a SA micro-compact with porting before, and couldn't hit much with it.

Fired a SA Compact that some one had worked over, and it was as good as my sig 220. I generally do like sigs, but for carry I'd probably prefer to be on a platform with a safety.

I have a 4" XD, and dont particularly like it. A bit too blocky, too big for ccw, and for some reason I just don't shoot it particularly well (I'm a southpaw). Shot some one else's Xd-40 with great results, so it could just be the pistol in question for all I know.

I've shot combat tupperware in the same size as the sig 239 before in 40, and don't expect there would be any issues with it. But, the high bore line feels odd in my hand. I haven't had a chance to shoot one, so I don't know if it'd actually bother me.

Any one have both? any preferences for carry?

thanks for any feed back.

Only have 239

but, if you put anti skid tape on the front of the grip, you are miles toward fixing the high barrel design flip recoil feel. .357 Sig in 239 is a fun, easy to carry item for me.

I saw a 239 SAS in 9mm that I now regret not buying because it had the BEST double action feel of anything I ever held counting every S&W!

Don't have any experience with the procarry, but I love my 239. Extremely reliable and accurate. Light enough (even fully loaded) to be comfortably carried all day. Just large enough with enough weight to be extremely shootable (even in .40 or .357 SIG). It's a blast to shoot at the range.

I carry a P239 SAS 9mm mostly in the summer.
I don't have any experience with the Pro Carry, but I do have alot of experience with the P239 (I've got 3 of them - but only carry the SAS)
I like the DAK (double action only) trigger. The trigger pull is about 7 lbs and it is very smooth. I don't feel the need for a safety with the DAK trigger (or any of my Sigs triggers). The trigger pull is long enough for me not to be worried about an accidental discharge.

Your last sentence, regarding a safety for carry, would seem to eliminate the Sig P239 from consideration.

I have a Kimber Pro Carry 2 and have carried it a fair amount. It is nice and thin, especially with thinline grip panels, so it conceals pretty well. The narrow slide (0.90 inches) lends itself to IWB carry, and the grip can be hidden in the right holster with a forward cant. And it does have the manual thumb safety you asked for. I find the gun to be quite accurate and reliable, and it holds 8+1 rounds of .45.
