Guess I have wondered this for a little while:
ARs & Aks are both pronounced with each letter individually. Is this also true with the FAL & AUG, or are they pronounced as an actual word instead of letters?

I've always said A-K Fourty seven and A-R Fifteen and H-K.

Though I do say fal (rhymes with pal), and Aug (like previous poster, Hog without H)

well AUG was getting to me lol- so it seems to be the only one not pronounced individually

thx

What about FAMAS and CETME? How about the FN MAG... is it pronounced 'mag' or M.A.G.? That would make it an "F'n Mag!" "Hey, my P90 broke, give me the F'n Mag!" "Them guys in Belgium make some good F'n weapons." "Love to get my hands on an F'n High Power." "Where'd you hide the F'n gun!?"

AUG = OGG.
CETME = SET-ME.
FAMAS = FUH-MOSS.
FAL = F. A. L.

I've been guilty (ignorant:confused: ) of saying some of the terms in the world of firearms incorrectly, and may still do so at times!

How 'bout...

LEUPOLD = LOO-POLED.
HODGDON= HODJ-DUNN.
GARAND = GAIR-UND.
WHELEN = WAY-LUN.
SHILEN = SHILL-UN.
SWAROVSKI = SAR-OFF-SKEE.

There are a couple more that I actually CALLED the company and ASKED...:D

If I remember them later, I'll add them in here.
Yep, some of it really bugged me!

:scrutiny:

Being military, I can turn any acronym into a word. Hell, I can almost completely speak in acronyms.

They're all words (at least in my little world ;) )

esheato....

THE NAME GARAMD IS PROPERLY PRONOUNCED

GAIR-und.
How do I know: John Garand told me so himself. Matter of fact he said " as in parent ".
The H&k name is pronounced HEKLER AND COKE, though every time I hafta call there and the gal says " Heckler and Koch " I always say, DANG, I THOUGHT IT WAS HECKLER AND PEPSI.....
