I always like when folks tell me how to pronounce my own last name. "Cause, I been sayin' it wrong since my talkin' ability kicked in"(said in a thick North Alabama-Appalachian{hillbilly}accent).
It is apparently too difficult to say without the partial removal of the American tounge.
Being mostly self taught and manuals or the ones I've read, didn't give phonetics. I was stumped to no end on the words Ogive, Chamfer and Swage. Oddly, I got Sabot. I must have sounded obsurd talking about it. Not much has changed!
like sabotage, as sabot is the origin of the word.
dang dutch and their wooden shoes... at the beginning of the industrial revolution, dutch workers would throw their wooden shoes into the machinery to muck up the works.
